Chapter 67 I Still Love Jack
Finished
Just thinking about it made Jack feel unsettled. The call had not ended yet; he heard a faint sound, Benjamin must have slipped the phone into Elina’s bag while she was not looking.
“Lina, when are you coming back?” Benjamin’s voice came through. “You’ve been living away for over ten days now, haven’t you? Doesn’t Jaslyn miss her mom at night?”
Jack heard every word and couldn’t bring himself to hang up. He fell silent, just like Benjamin, quietly waiting for Elina’s response.
“The hospital’s been so busy; going home late would just disturb Jaslyn. She’s a very understanding girl, she’ll get it.”
“And what about Jack? You’re still husband and wife; being apart for so long isn’t good for your relationship.”
Benjamin always knew exactly where to poke.
Elina let out a brief laugh, her voice gentle. “Why are you worrying about things like this? Jack and I won’t let it affect our relationship.”
Because there wasn’t much of a relationship to begin with. She kept a faint, slightly stiff smile on her face, never saying that part out loud-unaware that Jack was listening in on the entire conversation.
“You think I don’t know how you two are doing? Even if you’re putting on an act, you can’t fool me. I just think there’s a misunderstanding between you, clear that up, and things will be fine.”
Elina went quiet for a few seconds before smiling softly. “You’re overthinking it. Honestly, none of that’s even crossed my mind.
“There’s no misunderstanding between me and Jack. You just got discharged, so you really shouldn’t let your thoughts spiral. It’s not good for your recovery.”
She was dodging; not confirming or denying anything. Benjamin, however, was getting anxious.
He grabbed her arm; Elina slowed her steps.
“Tell me the truth, do you still love Jack or not? If you don’t, I promise I won’t let him bother you anymore.”
He was the one asking the question, but somehow he was afraid of hearing the answer
On the other end of the line, Jack held his breath without realizing it, waiting out the silence-waiting for Elina’s reply.
She looked at the hopeful expression on the old man’s face, a trace of regret flickering across her own,
“You’re right. Actually, I…”
Backed by Benjamin’s support, she was about to tell the truth, but the words took a turn at the last second.

Chapter 671 Still Love Jack
“Grandpa, I love Jack very much. Please don’t overthink things like this.”
Finished
Benjamin let out a heavy sigh of relief. “Good. I was just worried you didn’t have feelings for him anymore. If that were the case, no amount of advice from me would’ve helped and you might’ve even started resenting me.”
Elina chuckled. “What are you saying? Even if I did hate someone, it’d never be you.”
Then she quickly added, “You have to follow your doctor’s orders when you get home. No being stubborn, and no being picky with food.”
Benjamin nodded enthusiastically. “If you say so, how could I possibly forget?”
With the topic now shifted, Elina quietly let out a breath of relief.
On the other end of the call, Jack couldn’t stop the smile tugging at his lips after hearing her answer.
He knew it, no matter what Elina did, she still had feelings for him.
He used to hate her getting close, used to despise her for how ruthless she could be. And now, hearing her say she loved him-he was actually happy.
He still thought her wanting a divorce was ridiculous, but he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. A sense of satisfaction slowly crept in.
Jack believed what she’d said.
He didn’t listen any further. Instead, he ended the call.
Then he called for Howard. “Add another million to the hospital investment.”
