Chapter 69 Mansor’s Got Jokes Today

The remaining employees didn’t dare stay in the elevator any longer; they all stepped out, opting to wait for the next one.
When the doors slid shut, only Elowyn and Jack were left inside.
Jack still hadn’t said a word. Now that they were alone, he remained silent.
Elowyn’s heart began to race. She worried that her earlier behavior had upset him and kept her head down.
“Jack, I’m sorry, about what I said earlier…”
“It wasn’t your fault. She’s just petty and didn’t care to spare you any dignity.”
Before she could finish, Jack cut her off.
She looked up abruptly, catching the slight furrow between his brows; only then did her heart finally settle.
But Elowyn wasn’t done stirring the pot. “She probably didn’t want to talk about family stuff in front of others; that’s why she didn’t answer me. It’s not like she meant to embarrass me-you shouldn’t blame her.”
Jack simply reached out and pressed the “open” button. “Go upstairs. Get the documents ready with Howard.”
With that, he stepped out of the elevator.
Elowyn blinked, startled. “Where are you going?”
Jack paused, turning to glance back at her.
Her flawless makeup accentuated her bright, glistening eyes as she gazed at him with a pitiful expression.
“From now on, address me as Mr. Mansor while you’re at work.”
The words landed, and he turned and walked off without the slightest hesitation.
Even now, Jack felt nothing toward Elowyn-not a shred of emotion.
At that moment, his mind was consumed by one thought. Elina. Would she be upset about what just happened in the elevator?
Jack walked on, brows gradually knitting tighter.
He shouldn’t have stayed quiet; he should’ve stepped in and shut Elowyn down.
But for some reason, he hadn’t been able to say a word. Maybe, maybe it’s only when Elina takes aim at Elowyn that I can feel she still cares.
For a fleeting moment, he had enjoyed that feeling.

The door to the medical department stood open; inside, the staff were listening as Elina led a training
session.
Jack stood at the back door, not wanting to disturb, simply watching from afar.
At the front of the room, Elina held a pen, her focus locked in as she taught emergency response protocols.
‘These are textbook procedures, they sound easy and are simple enough to memorize. But in practice, hey’re a lot harder to execute.”
As she spoke, she moved the table in front of her, clearing a space.
Now I’m going to demonstrate each emergency technique. It’s okay if you don’t memorize everything ight away, you’ll get plenty of practice later. Over time, your muscles will remember.”
A medical dummy lay on the floor, its surface marked to indicate all the vital organs.
Elina knelt beside it and began demonstrating, slowly and carefully.
The staff listened with full attention. Soon, many of them had clustered around her.
ack could no longer see her clearly, so he walked into the room.
A few employees recognized him immediately and hurried to make space.
He gradually made his way to the front row. Elina hadn’t noticed yet; she was busy marking key areas on he dummy with a highlighter.
Some people ask what to do if you press too hard and break a rib. If it’s a life-or-death situation, it doesn’t natter what breaks. As long as the person survives, anything can be treated. This dummy is built to follow he body’s golden proportions, but it still differs slightly from a real person. So now I need three volunteers to act as models. Both men and women. Who’s interested?”
As she looked up, her gaze landed right on Jack, and she froze.
Her outstretched finger was pointing directly at him.
Someone nearby spoke up, breaking the tension.
