Chapter 70 Emergency Room or Flirt Fest?
Finished
There was a teasing edge in her voice, because she was certain Jack wouldn’t actually go through with it. She expected him to throw out a few cutting remarks and leave. But to her surprise, he simply shrugged off his jacket.
“Why not?”
He just didn’t want to see Elina putting her hands on another man.
By the time that thought had fully formed in his mind, Jack was already standing right in front of her.
The medical dummy had been moved aside. Elina glanced around at all the eager eyes watching her and suddenly felt cornered, like she had no way out.
This was supposed to be about teaching emergency procedures. It shouldn’t matter who the subject was man or woman, young or old, she should treat them all the same.
But the idea of touching Jack made her hesitate.
Seeing her freeze, Jack grew impatient. “What’s the matter, Dr. Ford? Forget how it’s done?”
A staff member chimed in, “Dr. Ford, maybe just show us the demo first before we try it ourselves.”
“Yeah, Dr. Ford, what you did yesterday for that employee was incredible. Today’s session on heart attack response is something we really need to learn.”
They were putting her on a pedestal now.
She knew if Jack hadn’t shown up, this awkward scene never would’ve happened.
She wanted to blame him, but she couldn’t let her emotions spill out in front of a room full of people who had no idea what was going on. So she pressed her lips together, dropped her gaze, and spoke.
“Then please lie down on the mat, Mr. Mansor.”
Jack did as told, stretching out on the mat, his sharp eyes locked on her.
Elina’s brows were tightly furrowed; she knelt beside him, clasped her hands, and placed them on his chest.
The familiar feel of his body, its heat and contours spread from her palms and reached her heart before she could stop it.
She looked up and saw that the employees were watching intently, focused only on learning.
Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself. If Jack wasn’t embarrassed, why should I be?
“This position, I explained it clearly earlier.”
She raised her voice, continuing the lesson.

Just then, someone piped up, “Dr. Ford, didn’t you say earlier that we should remove all clothing layers to find the right position?”
Elina let out a breath. Before she could respond, Jack had already grabbed her wrist and pressed her hand against his chest.
There was a flicker of amusement in his eyes. “Is the patient supposed to undress himself, Dr. Ford?”
She froze, staring at the mischief in his gaze, holding her breath. What the heck is wrong with him? Is he seriously doing this right now?
“Or is it that if you know the person needing CPR, you get shy about undressing them?”
The challenge wasn’t just in his eyes anymore, it was in every word. Jack was acting completely out of character, brazenly saying and doing things like no one else was in the room.
Elina opened her mouth, ready to object-but the words curved off course before they could leave her lips.
He’s the one lying here; if anyone looks ridiculous, it won’t be me. Her expression hardened.
With steady fingers, she began unbuttoning Jack’s shirt, exposing his firm, muscular chest bit by bit.
Every inch of that chest-further down as well-was territory she’d once been intimately familiar with.
She was supposed to feel nothing for him anymore; and yet, seeing his sculpted torso again still made her flush with embarrassment.
Gasps rippled through the crowd. Elina could feel sweat starting to form on her forehead.
“I think this should be far enough,” she said.
Suddenly, Jack caught her hand just as she reached for the next button. His gaze was intense.
Elina froze. The room had gone eerily quiet.
All the murmuring from earlier had vanished. The shadows from the crowd had disappeared, everything felt oddly bright and still.
She looked up sharply.
The employees had slipped out at some point, leaving just the two of them alone in the room.
