Chapter 73 Oh Look, Jack’s Busy Now

One assistant, wide-eyed and stunned, whispered, “Did Mr. Mansor just take a woman into his office?”
“You saw right, it was a woman. I even heard her voice.”
Elowyn froze when she heard that.
“A woman? What kind of woman?”
She could no longer hold herself back and stood up abruptly. “Are you sure you saw her?”
“Ms. Elowyn didn’t see her just now? Well, she was dressed really simply, but she was gorgeous. I’ve never seen Mr. Mansor act like that before; he must really like her, right?”
“You’re so bold to say that-aren’t you afraid his assistant will suddenly pop up and fire you? That was Mrs. Mansor. I’ve never seen her come to the company before.”
They were in the middle of their lively gossip when Elowyn snapped at them.
“Enough! Don’t go spreading nonsense behind people’s backs. Get back to your desks!”
She wasn’t even a supervisor, but ever since she joined the secretarial department, nearly everyone listened to her.
More than one person had seen Elowyn and Jack acting close-riding the elevator together, leaving work at the same time.
Everyone was speculating about her relationship with Jack.
But the older employees all knew about Elina-either from photos or having met her in person.
So quite a few of them looked down on Elowyn; they saw her as someone riding on Mr. Mansor’s name and throwing her weight around in the department.
As Elowyn silenced the gawkers, several scornful and disdainful glances landed on her from a distance.
“Wonder what she’s pretending to be now.”
“Exactly. Mr. Mansor’s never had any scandals for years-then she shows up and suddenly there’s drama?”
The snide remarks slipped into her ears. Elowyn turned toward the voices.
Two men and two women, all in their early forties, stared back at her without the slightest fear of her glare; they didn’t even bother to pretend to be respectful.
Elowyn clenched her teeth in frustration. If there hadn’t been so many people watching, she would’ve lashed out already.
No. I need to hold it in. If I lost her job at Mansor Group, that would… She didn’t let the thought finish. Instead, she turned her attention to who Jack had taken into his office.

Chapter 73 Oh Look, Jack’s Busy Now
So many people had gathered here-it was hard to believe they all saw wrong.

Thinking back to her elevator run-in with Elina, her expression changed. Grabbing a stack of random documents, she strode toward Jack’s office.
But before she could get close, Howard stood up from his desk and blocked her path.
“Ms. Elowyn, Mr. Mansor is in the middle of something. If it’s not urgent, please come back later.”
Howard had no affection for her. Knowing full well that Elina was in there with Jack, his face held the faintest trace of a smug smile.
Elowyn caught the look on his face. Swallowing her frustration and urgency, she forced a polite smile. “Mr. Howard, this file is extremely urgent. I need to see Mr. Mansor immediately.”
“I already told you, he’s busy. Even if you and Mr. Mansor are familiar outside the office, that doesn’t give you the right to act out of line at work.”
He was clearly using Jack’s name to remind Elowyn that she couldn’t do whatever she pleased.
Her jaw tightened, and her gaze turned cold.
She opened her mouth, about to speak, when a sound came from behind the heavy office door.
It was a woman’s voice. Though there was nothing flirtatious about it, with a man and a woman alone in an office, it was hard not to imagine the worst.
Elowyn stepped forward sharply. “Mr. Howard, if this delays important work, can you take responsibility?”
