Chapter 78 Your Patience Isn’t My Problem

If she didn’t love me, would she have put up with everything in the Mansor family? If she didn’t love me, why would she have lost control like that after Elowyn came back? Jack thought.
He clenched his fists, rage flaring in his eyes.
“Don’t wait until I run out of patience to regret it,” Jack growled through gritted teeth.
Elina didn’t want to argue with him anymore; she stepped back.
Her voice was cold. “You’re overthinking it. I just want to stay away from you. Draining your patience? I couldn’t care less. If you don’t want grandpa getting sick again, you’d better go along with him. Don’t let his emotions swing like that.”
With that, she turned to leave, but Jack stepped in front of her, anger cracking through his composure.
“So that’s your plan?” he snapped. “Using grandpa to pressure me into reinvesting in the hospital? The investment was a private project, it had nothing to do with the company. Even if grandpa asks, that doesn’t mean I’ll say yes.”
Unless you come home. That last thought, Jack kept to himself.
In this moment, under these circumstances, there was no way he could bring himself to show weakness.
Elina shot him a glance. “If you only invested in the hospital because of me, and pulled out just as easily for the same reason, I won’t stop you. If there’s a deficit, I’ll cover it myself. Just don’t waste your energy doing pointless things like this again.”
As her words fell, she brushed past Jack and walked away.
Her distance and indifference were a far cry from the cautious closeness she’d once shown.
Left standing there, Jack watched her retreating figure. The hollow feeling in his chest only grew heavier.
He had lost count of how many times he’d watched her walk away from him.
And every time, the bitterness in his heart deepened.
His face turned grim as he made his way back to the hospital room.
By the time he reentered, there was no trace of his earlier emotions.
Elina was gone; only Dennis remained, briefing him on Benjamin’s condition.
Once the doctors and nurses left, the old man slowly woke up in his hospital bed.
The moment he saw Jack, his dazed expression sharpened into stern clarity.
“How do you plan to fix this?”
Jack opened his mouth; the truth was on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed it. “You just focus on

resting. I’ll handle everything-you’ll be satisfied.”
Benjamin let out a cold snort. “Don’t try to fool me. I’ll ask Lina.”
“You can ask anyone. I wouldn’t lie to you.”
Jack lowered his gaze and followed Benjamin’s lead.

Elina’s defiance had been infuriating, but he couldn’t deny that her concern for Benjamin was sincere.
He wouldn’t argue with that; he’d take care of Benjamin just as she asked.
Hearing this, Benjamin finally relaxed. “What have you been doing all day? Can’t even protect your own wife?”
What followed was a lecture.
As usual, Jack let the words go in one ear and out the other. Not even the old man could easily change his mind.
Elina had just finished checking on a patient and was headed to visit Benjamin when she ran into Jenny in the hallway.
“You’re so dedicated,” Jenny teased. “No wonder every patient under your care sings your praises.”
