"She wishes I were dead! She wishes I had been destroyed by those disgusting men! You investigated everything, you know she did it, so what right do you have to stand there and lecture me?!"
"What else are you good for besides unconditionally shielding and protecting her!"
"Nora!"
Gideon sharply cut off her hysterical accusations.
His brow furrowed tightly, and a rapid layer of frost settled over his deep eyes as his expression dropped to absolute zero.
"Why do you have to drag Giselle into everything?"
His voice was frighteningly cold, carrying an oppressive weight that sent a chill straight to the bone.
The air in the room seemed to freeze completely.
Gideon stood perfectly still, his dark gaze locked onto the woman before him, whose eyes were bloodshot and filled with venomous resentment. Whatever sliver of softness had bloomed in his chest after their intimacy last night was utterly obliterated the moment he heard her vicious accusations.
In its place was an unprecedented, bottomless disappointment.
When had this woman become so paranoid and consumed by such a severe persecution complex?
A few days ago, when his back injuries had finally stabilized, he had made a decision. He knew Giselle had always been timid; she couldn't stomach the sight of him bleeding or in pain.
As for Nora's near-tragedy, the moment he pulled her out of the club in the dead of night, he had immediately dispatched his elite operatives and Liam York to conduct a sweeping interrogation.
Winston Walsh, whose wrist had been crushed, hadn't even lasted half an hour under their brutal methods. His mind snapped, and he confessed everything.
Just minutes before the operatives were about to cripple him entirely and throw him into prison, Winston had capitalized on a moment of distraction to pull a hidden burner phone from his pocket and dial a number.
Gideon had been standing right in front of the surveillance monitors in the basement, listening loud and clear as Winston screamed at the person on the other end.
"You said that as long as I blamed the Hayes Heiress, Mr. Hayes wouldn't do anything to me! You said she was his weak spot, and if I pinned it on her, he'd sweep it under the rug to protect her!"
"Now his men are about to kill me, why won't you answer the phone!"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
