Just as she turned around and took her first step.
"As for Janie Fisher..."
Nora froze in her tracks, her spine instantly snapping rigid.
Julian leaned back in his massive leather chair, thoroughly enjoying the sight of her tense posture.
"You don't need to worry about her."
"I imagine she's doing quite well. You only need to focus on your own affairs."
Nora's hands balled into tight fists, her nails digging so deeply into her skin that the sharp pain kept her grounded.
Listening to his high-sounding, hypocritical reassurances, she simply lowered her eyes in cold silence.
She knew exactly how much unspoken coercion and torment hid behind his casual claim that Janie was "doing quite well."
Over the past few weeks, Nora had tried calling Janie countless times, but the number was always disconnected. The girl seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth without a trace.
Janie had been a young girl burning with design dreams. Now, her career was violently severed, and she had been exiled from the city she fought so hard to survive in, forced to leave carrying nothing but humiliation.
And the true culprit behind it all was Giselle.
Nora didn't look back.
Quickening her pace, she pushed open the heavy glass doors and strode into the hallway.
Stepping through the revolving doors of The Pierce Headquarters, the blinding midday sun stabbed at her eyes.
She raised the back of her hand to shield her face, taking a deep breath to forcefully suppress the nauseating churn in her stomach.
Returning to the studio, Nora pulled out her chair and sat down. She picked up a black pen, preparing to verify the latest data points on her desk.
Suddenly, the black text on the page began to warp and overlap uncontrollably.
Using her assistant for leverage, she agonizingly pulled herself upright.
"Call me a cab."
Her voice was as faint as a whisper. "To Metropolis Central Hospital."
Metropolis Central Hospital.
The doctor, wearing a white coat, frowned deeply as she looked at the expedited blood test results, shooting Nora a disapproving glare.
"You young people only care about your jobs. You don't know how to take care of yourselves at all. You're two weeks pregnant, didn't you feel anything?"
The doctor slid the report across the desk, tapping the paper hard with her finger.
"Look at your vitals. Severe anemia. Your immune system is shot. The first trimester is already the most dangerous, and you've run yourself so far into the ground you look like you could pass out at any second. Do you have a death wish?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
