The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 422

"Mr. Hayes! What happened to you? Were you in a car crash?!"

Franklin's voice cracked with absolute terror as his trembling hands reached out to support Gideon's arm.

"Quick! Call Dr. Scott right now! He injured his head, we need to treat the wound immediately!"

Franklin turned his head, barking orders at the paralyzed staff behind him.

Gideon stood rooted to the spot, letting the blood and rainwater run into his eyes. Even the simple act of blinking seemed agonizingly slow.

Faced with Franklin's panic, he merely lifted his right hand with sluggish movements, waving it in the air to stop the staff from making the call.

A dull throb pulsed from the gash on his forehead, yet his mind felt an unprecedented numbness.

He had sat in the rain in front of that cold tombstone for hours.

He had spoken so many words to the grave, receiving absolutely no response.

On the drive back, he had been in a trance, nearly crashing the car into a massive tree.

Dragging his heavy steps, he bypassed the frantic staff and walked straight to the coffee table in the center of the living room.

A few white plastic pill bottles were scattered across the table. Reaching out, Gideon mechanically unscrewed the caps of several bottles, pouring the contents of three of them directly into his palm.

Antidepressants, potent sleeping pills, and heavy sedatives—a colorful mix of over a dozen pills.

He tilted his head back and shoved the entire handful of mixed medication into his mouth.

"Mr. Hayes! You can't take those like that!"

Franklin lunged forward, trying to snatch the empty bottles away, stomping his feet in sheer anxiety. "If you swallow pills by the handful, even the strongest body will give out! Your head is still bleeding, it needs to be bandaged right away!"
