Chapter 126

–Kaia–

The moment we stepped foot in the Nightshade pack, I felt welcomed.

Like I had been there before for some reason, it looked familiar

When we walked into the pack after a long drive, I was surprised to find it felt so familiar; even the Alpha looked a lot like someone I’d seen before.

I got lost in thought, thinking of this, and didn’t realise I had been staring at the alpha; it was rude.

I only jerked back to my senses when Theo grabbed my hand, squeezing it gently.

We exchanged pleasantries, and we were shown to our rooms. Zane and Justine went to their room, and so did Theo and I.

We showered and got dressed.

We were having dinner with the alpha and his family.

I was looking forward to it, but at the same time, I was nervous about sharing a table with the infamous Alpha Mathew Nightshade of the south, a notorious man who ruled with an iron hand.

I’ve heard a lot about him, and it wasn’t good.

I was hoping to find out why he would wage war against the poor and vulnerable to make himself rich and powerful.

I know it was a stupid idea, and it might get Theo kicked out, but I would be careful not to overstep.

When we arrived at the venue, the alpha and his family weren’t there yet.

Only the four of us.

It felt strange and awkward.

The omega approached us, smiling.

“Hello, Alpha Theo, Lady Kaia,” the omegas greeted, bowing slightly. “The Alpha will be a little late tonight, he asked us to show you guys to the table. He will join you shortly,” she said, and we nodded.

She showed us to a lavishly decorated table, where food was spread, though it was covered.

I guess we will never know what they are serving until the Alpha family gets here,

My stomach grumbled, and I felt my mouth go dry immediately

I was hungry and wanted to eat immediately. My hormones are doing something to my body, and I can’t control them.

Theo looked at me and saw how hungrily I was looking at the spread. He squeezed my hand.

“Can we get you glasses of juice while you wait?” The omega aske, and my heart jumped with excitement.

“Yes, please,” I answered before anyone else did. “Make mine less sugary. And can I also get some appetisers?” I asked, and she nodded.

Theo locked eating well.

“Your dress is so gorgeous, Justine,” I said, raising my head and noticing her outfit. “I can’t believe this is the first time I’m seeing you in it”

Justine smiled and glanced at her mate.

“Zane got it for me as an anniversary gift last year,” she glanced at herself. “Beautiful, isn’t it?”

“Absolutely stunning,” I said, and she smiled.

“Thank you, and you look absolutely gorgeous too,” she praised me.

Just then, the omega came back with my meal. She laid it in front of me and stepped aside.

“Thank you, miss,” I said. She bowed respectfully.

Without warning, I dug into the bowl of the boneless wings and dream sauce she brought me.

Whoa, these were the best chicken wings I’ve had in a while.

I was licking my fingers; it was delicious, I couldn’t help myself.

I was shoving food into my mouth shamelessly and didn’t see the alpha family coming.

“Ladies and gentlemen, sorry for keeping you waiting”, I heard the alpha say, walking in.

I had food in my mouth and tried to look away so he wouldn’t see me. I looked like I had been caught committing a crime.

“Lady Kaia, you must have been so hungry. Sorry, I couldn’t come on time,” The Alpha turned to me, and I felt shame wash

over me.

“It’s okay, Alpha,” I mouthed, wiping my mouth. “You should take all the time you want”

“Still, I apologise for keeping you all waiting”, Alpha Mathew said before taking his seat.

After he sat, I looked ahead and saw an older woman walking in. She had a few grey strands in her hair and looked elegant, like a royal.

Well, she’s genuinely a queen, and her aura rolled off her.

“Hello, gentlemen,” she greeted once she walked in. “And beautiful women. Welcome to our humble home”

She smiled at us, but her eyes lingered on Theo, and I saw Theo standing up.

Theo walked up to her, and she stretched out her arms, and The ran into her arms.

“My big boy!” The Luna mouthed, patting Theo’s back. “You’ve grown so much, look at you!”

She had tears in her eyes, and Theo couldn’t stop himself as well

“And you look elegant as always, Auntie”, Theo mouthed, his voire cracking with emotion. “I missed you so much!”

“I hated that I had to stay away from you, my darling,” Luna Morgana said, wiping her tears. “If only Kingsley weren’t so cruel, any of this wouldn’t have happened”

“I know, Auntie, and I’m sorry for everything”, Theo said.

“Why are you apologising? It wasn’t your fault, son”, Luna Morgana said and urged Theo to sit.

She turned to look at me, and I shifted uncomfortably. I didn’t know how to react.

Chapter 126

“Hello, Luna Morgana,” I greeted. “I’m Kaia, Theo’s mate”

Hearing this, she glanced at Theo, who nodded to confirm it.
