We locked eyes, the girl stopped in her tracks, and I shivered for no reason at all.

I felt strange, and I could not understand what was happening.

“Are you okay, blue eyes?” Theo asked, seeing me dazed off.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m okay,” I muttered, looking at him.

Just then, Alpha Mathew turned around and saw the girl.

“Katya, darling, join us for dinner”, Alpha Mathew warmly invited the new girl.

She walked over, she had her eyes on me, and I didn’t know how to react.

“Have you met your brother, Theo and his mate, Kaia, yet?” Luna Morgana asked once she sat down.

“I wasn’t told we would be hosting guests”, Katya mouthed, staring into her plate.

“Oh my darling,” Luna exclaimed, “It’s my fault, I was too engrossed in having Theo around that I forgot to tell you about it”

Katya beamed at me once when our eyes met. She looked stern and disciplined, like Luna Morgana, and I reminded myself to tread carefully around her.

“So, Theo, you finally decided to come see us after all these,” Katya said, directing it to Theo, who stopped eating.

“I’m sorry, Katya, I have no excuse for my disappearance”, Theo said, “Everything happened so fast, and I got so caught up in my own feelings that I forgot the people who loved me. I apologise for not showing up until now”

“You don’t have to be sorry. If I had a stepmother like Cara, I would lock myself away, too,” she said, chuckling, and we all burst out laughing as well.

“That witch Cara,” Luna Morgana gritted, slamming her fists on Her thighs. “I’m sure she made sure Theo didn’t grow up with his father. That greedy woman wanted everything for herself and her bastard son, Lucien” Her eyes flashed with rage. “The only reason why I still haven’t had her thrown in a dungeon is that I do not want to start a war between the South and the West, because Theo would be the one who would suffer.

The council would pressure him to go to war with us to maintain his pack’s honour and restore Cara’s dignity, but we all know the Shadowclaw is no match for us”

The way she said it made shivers run down my spine.

She was as ruthless and spoke monstrously as rumours claimed.

“Theo, you didn’t introduce me to your mate,” Katya pointed out sipping from her glass.

When I heard this, I shifted in my head, a little nervous.

I was letting out a lot of emotions today, and I can’t understand why.

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot, so sorry”, Theo said, “Kaia, this is Katya, my childhood best friend, and Katya, this is Kaia, my mate and the mother of our pup”

“Pup?” Luna Morgana lowered her eyes curiously, and Theo nodded, confirming her curiosity. “Yes, we are expecting. Kaia is pregnant”

“Oh my! This is good news, congratulations to you two!” The Luma pinched Theo’s cheeks and kissed him.

She smiled at me, rubbing my back affectionately, and I felt warm inside that a woman like her was holding my hands and congratulating me..

“Congratulations, Theo and Kaia,” Katya clapped. “I can’t believe chocolate toppings are about to become a father”

“Hey, don’t call me that,” Theo jolted, and Katya laughed, seeing his expression. “We are not kids anymore.

“Who’s gonna stop me?” She asked, grinning evilly. “You? Well, you can try! You may have become an alpha, but you’ll remain chocolate toppings in my eyes”

“Stop it, Katya,” Luna Morgana chimed in. “Theo’s mate is here; she might get the wrong idea”

I felt heat crawl up my cheeks when she mentioned me, so I looked away.

“Oh no, Luna,” I whispered. “I’m not getting any ideas. Theo and Katya are childhood buddies; they have a long history, and I’m glad they are reunited”

The family exchanged glances, and Alpha Mathew frowned.

“See the difference between her and that …” He clenched his fists gathering his words. “That bitch..”

He looked angry, and I wondered who he was referring to, but I kept my mouth shut; I wasn’t here to pry into their personal

matter.

“That reminds me, where is your brother? Why isn’t she at dinner with us?” Luna Morgana asked.

I saw that Theo’s mood shifted. Zane looked at him and nodded they were mindlinking.

It seemed I was the only one in the dark because Justine flinched as well.

“It’s the tournament, mother,” Katya mouthed. “He can be anywhere, how would I know where he is? It’s not like I go around fucking his whores with him”

“Hey, don’t say that in front of our guest,” Luna Morgana tapped Katya’s hand, stopping her. “I don’t want them to get the wrong first impression of him”

“Why?,” Katya scoffed. “It’s the truth, no matter how much you deny it, that son of yours is a whoring bastard”

Luna Morgana clenched her fists and wanted to answer back, but the alpha raised his palm, stopping her, and she swallow her anger.

“Ladies,” The alpha said. “Stop fighting in front of our guests, it’s not a good look for us as a host”

“Guests? Theo and his family are not guests, they are family, there is no need to act so formally” Katya muttere, and we all nodded.

After all, Theo is their godson; their relationship goes way back. However, I was still curious about who they were talking about and why everyone except me didn’t seem the least surprised.

“Before the tournament begins tomorrow, I will take you guys on a tour of the pack mansion,” Katya offered. “Our pack mansion is the biggest you’ll come across in our world, and Theo I’m going to show you all you’ve missed”

“Sure, let’s do that!” Theo agrees.

“Theo, tell me, how is your health? Is there something I can do to help?” Alpha Mathew asked.

I froze on my track, staring down at my bowl, bewildered.
