Luckily for me, after walking for a few minutes, I saw someone waving at me.

I looked closely, and it was Kaia; she was sitting with Justine and Maliya. Zane was nowhere to be seen, and I wondered where he had gone.

“Hey, what took you so long, darling?” Kaia asked, kissing my cheeks when I got to the booth.

“I had a chat with the alpha and Luna, that’s why I took a little while to get here. Not to mention, I couldn’t find our booth,” I explained, and Kaia burst out laughing.

“It’s not funny, I thought I was lost”

“Well, that makes it funnier, Theo,” she said, holding her small bump and laughing, and I smiled, seeing her adorable face. “Imagine an alpha losing his way, that’s so funny!”

“Where is Zane? I can’t see him around,” I asked, looking around

“He excused himself a little while ago to take a call, I’m sure he’s around somewhere”, Justine responded, and I nodded.

“Alright,” I said. “Have you ladies had anything to eat yet?” I asked.

“Not yet, I was thinking the girls and I would go eat over there,” she pointed to a nearby store. “After the opening ceremony

is over”

I looked toward where she pointed; it was small, probably put up to help with accessible food and drink.

The pack had taken responsibility for everything the guests might need, but it’s on the guests if they didn’t eat the food provided at the house. That’s why the restaurants and stores were made available.

“Alright, should I come with you?” I asked.

“No need, it’s just us, girls”, she said, and I pouted.

I know they need their privacy to chat, and I shouldn’t be a fourth wheel.

“Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please?” The MC said, and we all turned to look. “Today, the alphas of all alphas, the ruler of the most powerful and solid pack in our wereworld, will open the ceremony. Please welcome on stage. Alpha Mathew Nightshade and Lady of the South, Luna Morgan Nighshade”

Applause thundered in the open stadium as the couple walked onto the stage.

They were holding hands, smiling, and waving to the crowd as they got on stage.

Then, the stadium fell silent as the alpha assumed the podium to give his speech.

You will race, shift, spar, hunt, strategise, and push yourselves to limits you didn’t know you had. You will show courage and discipline.

And

you will show the world what it truly means to be wolf-born

To the young wolves here for the first time, I say this:

Win with honour. Lose with dignity. And rise every time you fall because that’s what true wolves do.

To the seasoned warriors, teach through your strength. Inspire through your endurance. Lead through your conduct.

And to every Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and warrior standing with us today, thank you for keeping our traditions alive and for ensuring our packs grow stronger with every generation.

Let these games be fierce and unforgettable.

But above all, let them be fair.

Applause thudded loudly for a few minutes. A few wolves stood up, excitedly shouting and cheering for the couple as they walked off the stage.

I could see in the crowd’s eyes that they loved the Nightshade couple.

If this were the case, how come they were hated outside and had a reputation as tyrants?

I pushed it to the back of my mind and watched the people cheer until the couple disappeared from their line of sight

When I turned back, Kaia was looking at the crowd, mesmerised and I could understand why she’d feel so.
