“Lady Justine?” Justine repeater. “Stop calling me that, we are friends now, address me by my name”

“Okay, Justine”, Maliya muttered, frightened.” What were you talking about?”

“I was just wondering if you had a boyfriend,” Justine repeated, unaware of how her question made Maliys look uneasy.

“Justine, stop putting the girl in the spotlight,” I said, and Justine glanced at Maliya quickly.

Maliya looked as if heat were crawling up her cheeks; she looked away, shy.

“Oh no, I don’t mean to do that!” Justine admitted. “I thought since we are talking about ourselves, why not involve her? After all, she’s our friend, isn’t she?”

“Yeah, right. By asking about her boyfriend?” I rolled my eyes. “know what you are, Justine, a gossip!”

A stern frown crossed her face, and she puckered her lips.

“Hey, that’s not fair! “Justine argued, and I giggled.

“There is no need to argue, guys”, Maliya chimed in, stopping us from arguing. “Im not offended by her question, in fact, I’m glad she asked. Now, I have someone to rant to”

“Really?” I curiously asked. “Tell us about it later, okay?”

I said, and glared at the two men, “We don’t dont want them in our business,” and they quickly understood.

“Did you see Elara’s face when we didnt invite her to join us?” Justine said, chuckling. She’s always up to some mischief.

“She looked so pained, and I was glad someone was paying her back for how she treated us back then”, Maliya said, and we all stopped to stare.

“Treated you?” Theo frowned. “What do you mean?”

Maliya was shocked, she didnt plan to say this in front of Theo.

She quickly glanced at me, fear visible in her eyes, and I nodded assuring her that it was okay to tell the truth.

“Elara used to torture us,” Maliya began, tears welling up in her eyes. “When we would make a little mistake, she would ask some men to tie us up, and she would bathe us in silver dust water”

The moment Maliya said, Theo’s eyes widened in shock.

“What did you say?” Zane was shocked, too.

“It’s true, Theo,” I chimed in. “When Maliya told me a few months ago, I couldn’t believe it. Then, I heard it from the girls in the packhouse. They didnt like Elara at all because she was hurting and torturing them when you weren’t paying attention.”

“Why didnt you tell the alpha all this time?” Zane asked, visibly shaking with rage.

“Because Elara was going to become the lady and Luna soon, it would be stupid to get on her nerves”, Maliya said. “Besides, Elara assured us that even if you found out the truth, you’ll take her side. After all, we were just servants working for a paycheck; you can’t take our word over hers”

I saw Malita quickly wipe tears from her eyes; the poor girl was reliving the experience.

Elara is a monster, and I wish I could make her feel the same pain that she made them go through.

Silver dust water is not something to joke with, she knew it, and that’s why she was using it on them.

“How much more wicked can she get?” Justine gritted her teeth. I thought Cara was evil for making things difficult for me, but now, Elara takes the crown of the most evil witch I’ve ever known.”

Justine gritted her teeth as her fists subconsciously ticked.

If she had it her way, I’m sure she would beat up Elara in a one-on-one fight.

She hated Elara, and I could see the hatred rolling off her.

“Cara? Did she do something to you?” Zane got curious.

Justine shrugged, trying to play it cool and not worry Zane.

“She just ruffled my fur a little, but, haha”, she stated and laughed

When she saw that none of us was laughing with her, she awkwardly stopped.

“What the fuck was I doing all this time?!” Theo asked, vibrating with rage.

His jaw ticked as his fists clenched, his veins popping as he tried not to lose control.

I put my hand on his thigh, patting him to calm down.

“Hey, it wasn’t your fault, Alpha”, Justine said, trying to soothe him. “You had a lot on your plates; they were just bullies, it had nothing to do with you”

“It had everything to do with me!” Thro snapped, slamming his fists into the table. “I was meant to protect you, protect everyone in my pack, but I was weak and let you all suffer!”

We jolted at Theo’s reaction; it was the first time I’ve seen him this angry.

“Calm down, Theo. Getting angry isn’t going to solve anything. We have to think carefully and trap them in such a way that they won’t escape punishment,” I suggested, and everyone, except Theo, nodded in agreement.

“Look, I know how this feels, but you didnt neglect your duties, you were uninformedabout the situation. Now that you know, you can get justice for them”

Then, finally, we calmed down and resumed eating in silence. By this time, everyone had lost their appetite and no longer wanted to continue the dinner.

I wanted to return to our room to rest, too.

I had plans to ask Theo about Elara and the man she ran away with, but after what happened at dinner, I couldn’t bring myself to ask.

We left and returned to our room. Theo’s mood was foul the whole time.

He must feel terrible for his things were run in his pack while he was clueless, and the feeling of being called a weak Alpha must have returned.

I could understand him, and I hope he realised it wasn’t his fault and that he wasn’t weak.

We showered, and instead of going to bed, Theo turned on his laptop to work.

I couldn’t hold off any longer; I lay my head down, and the last thing I remember was that I was snoring.
