The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

I reached the barn house faster than I had intended.

I saw Rylan from afar; he was leaning on a wall, his face tight with something I couldn’t read.

“What’s going on?” I asked, scowling when I stopped in front of him.

“I can’t say,” Rylan said. “You have to see this for yourself”

Saying that, he walked ahead of me and stopped in front of the rain store.

“Look at this,” he pointed to the store. “More than twenty bags of the new supplies have gone missing”

“What?” I exclaimed. “How is that possible? Where did it all go? find it immediately”

My forehead throbbed with pain. I couldn’t understand anythin

“I’ve sent men out to look,” Rylan said. “A bit sorry to break it to you, Draven, but I don’t think we are getting them back”

“Who could have done this?” I asked, pacing. “The barn is usually heavily guarded. How come twenty bags of grain can be missing without anyone knowing?”

“I found a route,” Rylan mentioned, and I turned to look.

“Where?”

Rylan walked to the back of the barn, down into a dark tunnel that I didnt know existed.

How is that possible? I had been ruling this pack for years, and I wasn’t aware of any tunnel at the back of the barn.

My parents never mentioned it either.

“I think the grains were taken through this route, that’s why nobody saw them”, Rylan reasoned. “It’s possible that it was stolen at night through this tunnel right here”

We stopped and peeped into the tunnel; it was long and dark, and I presumed it led all the way to the forest.

“I had no idea there was a tunnel here, Rylan”, I said, holding my waist.

I was confused, and I could say the same for Rylan, too.

“Didn’t your parent mention it to you?” he asked, and I shook my head.

“No, they never did,” I said. “Im aware of all the exit tunnels in the pack, but…” I pointed at the tunnel. “This is new to me, I

swear”

I saw the confusion on Rylan’s face deepen.

“Maybe it was recently dug?” he suggested, and I sharply looked at him.

“What do you mean?” I asked, I know it was stupid, but I couldn’t help myself.

“I mean, if your parents, who had ruled this pack for years, had no knowledge of the existence of this tunnel, it means only one thing: it’s new.” Rylan locked eyes with me, nodding. “It must have been dug recently when we weren’t looking

I glared into the tunnel again. Rylan was right.

The walls were new and a little muddy, which meant they were new.

“How come we didn’t know about any of this?” I grabbed my hair in frustration.

“A lot has happened in the past couple of months. We were distracted, that’s why”, Rylan tried to make me feel better.

But nothing could justify something like this.

I am the alpha, for god’s sake, I should be aware of everything going on in my own damn pack!

“Who could be behind this, and why would they do this?” My heart was seething with anger.

If I got my hands on whoever was behind this, I would rip their throats out in seconds.

“I have no idea who it could be, Draven”, Rylan said.”But whoever was behind this didn’t do it out of hunger; there is something fishy going on here”

A harsh growl left my lips, and I turned to punch a

anch of a tee.

I was upset, and my anger was rolling off of me. Rylan stood behind me, trying to pacify me, but he was afraid to touch me because of my alpha aura.

I had let it out unintentionally.

Just then, Theo’s words crept into my mind.

“People are planning a terrorist attack in the wereworld, and I’m afraid they recruited a few men from the north as members”

Fuck! Fuck!

I kicked the ground, feeling stupid that I hadn’t noticed that anything was amiss all these months.

“What’s going on?” Rylan was alarmed. “Are you going to tell me!”

I took a deep breath to calm myself down.

“Alpha Theo said people are planning an attack on the packs,” I began softly. “Amd they are targeting the big packs especially, I’m afraid we might be one of their targets”

“An attack?” Rylan frowned. “I don’t understand. Why would anyone plan attacks on the packs? That’s illegal, right?”

“I don’t know why and what they want.” I breathed. “But Theo said he has a reason to believe so, and honestly, now that I think about it, he was right”

I moved back to the barn house with Rylsn trailing behind me.

“Theo wanted us to keep an eye out for these terrorists, and I think we should gather men”, I said, checking the grain bags “What I want is to do this discreetly and find those fuckers before they get us killed for incompetence.

Another thing, have the workers transfer these bags of grain to the pack mansion. Anyone who needs grain can always go there and ask for it”

“I’m right on it,” Rylan said while silently typing. “Dont you think we should alert the luna and your little sister about this? 1 mean, it’s for their own safety,” he suggested once he finished typing.

I raised my finger, stopping him.

“No, don’t do that”, I said, “Liora will be due in a month, I don’t want to raise her stress level with this. And as for my sister,

she hasn’t been back in years because of something like this. I don’t want to ruin her stay here. Leave it to me, I will keep

them safe”

“As you wish, Draven”, he said.

Then, we returned home from the barn house.

I realised Liora and Rabiya would be waiting for me; I had been gone for a while.

When we got close to the house, I stopped and faced Rylan.

“Look into everyone. All the high officials who might have something to gain from the pack falling through,” I said. “I don’t care who they are, make sure they are investigated, and when you find anything suspicious, arrest them at once”

Rylan nodded, but he had a conflicting look on his face, and I knew what he was getting at.

“I know this is going to cause a lot of chaos, but this is the only way to stop these people from dragging us down with them”, I firmly said. “Look into everyone, me and my family included”

“I understand, Draven”, Rylan said, and I gave him a small smile

Once Rylan left, I returned home.

Rabiya and Liora were in the garden drinking tea, and when the saw me, they exchanged looks.

“Speak of the devil, and here he comes,” Rabiya joked, and they laughed, giving themselves high fives.

“What’s going on here?” I asked, taking off my jacket. “Who is this devil you talk of?”

“Girls’ secret, no telling anyone,” Liora put a finger over her lips, acting like it was sealed.

“Oh, I see!” I said, grinning. “You two have already started ganging up on me; it hasn’t even been a day yet”

“Well, that’s what you get for leaving us alone”, Rabiya rolled her eyes.

She pretended to be angry, and I knew it was because I hadn’t told them I was leaving. Now, I can’t tell them either.

It’s for their own safety.

The mastermind behind this is very dangerous, and it’s only a matter of time before he gets to us, and before that happens, I need to kill the bastard.

“Sorry, darlings!” I apologised, taking a seat beside Liora. “An urgent work came up, and I had to go. Im back now, we can do whatever you want, Biya”

Rabiya grinned and looked at me.

“In that case, open my mindlink. I want to be able to link everyone,” she said. “I can’t do everything by myself, I need the staff services, and I’d be too lazy to go out”

She had been gone for a long time, and when she left, she was a child who didn’t have her wolf yet. That’s why she wasn’t linked to the pack, let.

“Thats all?” I asked, and she eagerly nodded.

I closed my eyes and summoned her wolf, linking her to myself

And after a while, I heard her wolf respond to me, bowing her head in submission.

“Hey brother, I’m finally home!” Rabiya squeaked in my head, and I covered my ears to stop her.

“You are too loud!” I scolded, and she laughed.

“What else can I do?” she pouted. “This was my coping mechanism, and now it’s a part of me”

“It’s okay,” I said.

After a while, Liora stood up and excused herself after she got a call.

It was just me and Rabiya left. She told me about her life abroad and all the friends she made.

“You know what, I attended a wedding before I came here,” Rabiya revealed with giddiness in her voice. “It was my friend, Elara. Poor girl was forced to marry a man she didn’t want”

“Why? Didn’t she have a choice in the matter?” I asked, and she shook her head sadly.

“No,” she said. “I mean, yes, she had a choice once, but she blew it all up when she left him for another man. Then, she came back to her senses and returned to him, but by this time, he found himself another mate already”

A glimmer of sadness flashed on her face for her friend. It was her friend’s fault after all, she has only herself to blame, nobody else.

“And who is this man your friend betrayed?” I asked before I could stop myself.

“Alpha Theo Ashford of Shadowclaw pack,” she said, recalling. “He was such a gentleman, I wonder why she betrayed him like that”

“Alpha Theo?” I muttered, repeating.

“Do you know him?” she asked, curiously.

“Yes,” I nodded. “We went to the academy together, and he’s my friend too,” I said.

“Omg, what a small world!” she exclaimed. “But you know something else?”

She asked, and I shook my head.

Rabiya quickly sat up.

“I met his new mate, and she looked awfully familiar!” she gasped. “I felt like I knew her from somewhere, but I can’t te where”

“Have you met his mate? Do you know her?” she asked, and I shook my head.

“No, I’ve never met her,” I said.

I couldn’t help her with that and just listened to her chatter.

When it was bedtime, I showed her to her room, where the omegas had cleaned up earlier.

“Goodnight, brother”, she hopped to her toes and kissed my cheeks.

“Good night, little sister,” I said and kissed her back.

After that, I returned to my room to see that Liora wasn’t there.

I took out my laptop to work on the project I had shared with Thro a few days back.

I got buried in my work and didn’t hear Liora come in after thirty minutes.

“Where were you, babe?” I asked.

“I was in the kitchen instructing the omegas on what to make for Rabiya, she’s our guest, I want her to be comfortable”, Liora said, taking her nightgown out.

I closed my laptop and hugged her from behind.

“You shouldn’t be doing all of that now, babe”, I said, kissing her neck. “You’re heavily pregnant. Rabiya will be fine, she’s not a kid”

“I know,” Liora chuckled and pulled away from my arms. “I wanted to do it for her”

Before I could say anything, she jumped into the bathroom and came back in her nightgown.

She looked gorgeous, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. She lay on the bed, and I jumped right into bed with her.

I kissed her lips and drew her close to me, circling my hands around her waist.

My wolf was jumping with joy, wanting to bury himself deep insile Liora, but she was heavily pregnant, and I couldn’t risk my mate’s safety for fun.

She soon fell asleep in my arms, and I tucked a strand of hair away from her face.

I’ve had a very long day, and I needed rest to continue the fight.

The moment I closed my eyes, sleep engulfed me and I let it.
