The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 153

Chapter 153

–Liora

I was exhausted after entertaining Draven’s loud sister antics.

She wouldn’t stop talking, and I was forced to listen and laugh along.

To top it all off, Draven left me alone with her and disappeared for about an hour.

I was relieved when he finally returned. I thought it was my chance to slip away and get some sleep.

However, I got a call instead, imagine my shock.

I excused myself to take the call; it was one I couldn’t ignore.

“Hello, master?” I greeted when I picked up the phone.

I knew it was big trouble when the master himself was the one calling.

“What kind of a sloppy job have you been doing?” He yelled, and I flinched.

His voice was cold enough to feel like a dagger slicing through my skin. He was a man whom I hated to get in his bad book

“I’m sorry, master, but I don’t understand what you mean”, I said my lips quivering.

“Did you forget you had a mission to fulfil? That’s the main reason you’re in that pack?” He asked, “If you’re tired of your job, you can retire. I don’t want you making a mess of my plans

“I’m not tired, master, but I don’t know where this is all coming from” I pinched my temple in fear.

“That bastard Draven seemed to have found the tunnel we dug; you need to cover our tracks immediately,” the master said. and a gasp left my lips.

Hell, no!

Draven wasn’t supposed to find that tunnel; it took us a long time to get it up.

Forget about that, Draven would have questions. How do I make him drop them?

Oh goddess, this is not what I wanted to happen.

He wasn’t supposed to find out so soon.

I pulled my hair in frustration while the master scolded me, and I didn’t say anything.

It was my fault. I had a duty to secure the tunnel, and I failed.

“I will make everything right again,” I muttered after a while. “Please give me some time”

“You’d better make sure of it, Liora,” he angrily spat. “I don’t have time for sloppy Janes. I will make you regret it if you fail

me”

“I will not give you a chance to complain, please trust me this once”, I pleaded, and the call ended abruptly before I knew it.

Fear gripped my heart. I knew what the master was capable of, and he would act on his threats if I gave him a reason to.

I turned back to glance at the house. Draven and his sister were chatting and laughing loudly.

I took the chance and ran towards the barn house where we had dug an underground tunnel to transport food without being

seen.

This was my part of the bigger picture, and I would not let it slip through my fingers.

When I got to the barn house, I saw men working and moving the grain.

They must have discovered that the grains were missing and decided to shift them to preserve the rest.

Maybe Draven doesn’t know anything after all. He probably thought it was rogues stealing from us.

Thankfully, he’s easy to convince. I will make him believe it was rogues who were stealing from us, so my cover won’t be blown.

I stood there and watched the barn being emptied. I was hurt because I hadn’t gotten enough grain for the master yet.

I felt awful; it was for the greater good, and I failed in doing my part.

I walked back to the house, and when I got back, Draven and his sister must have gotten tired of chattering like parrots and retired to bed.

I didn’t realise I’d taken that much time. I panicked.

I thought of what to say so that I wouldn’t look suspicious in front of Draven.

I rushed to the kitchen, instructed the omegas on a few things, and when I was done, I returned to my room.

I knew Draven would ask questions, and I was ready for him.

He was working on his laptop when I slipped inside. He didn’t see me walk in, and I was grateful for that.

I took off my nightgown, ready to jump into the bathroom, when he turned around and saw me.

“Where were you, babe?” He asked, taking off his reading glasses.

“I was in the kitchen, instructing the maids on what to make for Rabiya,” I lied, and he believed.

I felt relieved when he became hyper and worried about me.

“You shouldn’t have to do that, babe,” he said, his eyes looking me all over. “You’re heavily pregnant, you yourself out”

I gave him a small smile, still clutching my nightgown.

“I know, darling. I just wanted to do this for your sister; she’s my family now”

Draven looked at me with adoring eyes, and I knew I had won his heart with my words.

shouldn’t stress

He was a simple man, more like a stupid man who was easily controlled by my words, and I was glad I had him under my thumb.

I went into the bathroom, my heart in my mouth, afraid I would get caught, but thankfully everything went smoothly.

Coming out, I had worn my nightgown, and I slipped into bed immediately.

I closed my eyes, pretending to sleep. Draven came to the bed, looked at my face.

I knew the wolf was calling out to mine, but I wasn’t in the mood to do anything right now.

I heard Draven get into bed. He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and wrapped his hand around my waist.

He breathed in my scent, and I let him. I had to fake sleeping.

After a while, he went quiet, and I knew he had fallen asleep.

I opened my eyes, watched him for a while, and when he didn’t make any noise, I snuck out of bed.

Draven’s laptop was still on the desk in front of me. I walked to it and silently sneaked through it.

I wanted to know everything Draven knew about the tunnels and the missing grains, and whether he had any suspicions about who might have stolen them.

Unfortunately, there was nothing on his laptop, which meant he wasn’t suspicious of anyone yet.

I stood up and let out a sigh of relief.

For now, my secret was safe, and I needed to make sure it remained that way.

I snuck back into bed, and let Draven wrap his arms around me.

I woke up earlier than everyone the next morning, and I helped the omegas make breakfast while keeping an eye out for the workers moving things into the pack store.

About an hour later, Draven and his sister walked into the dining area for breakfast.

Rabiya was talking loudly as she walked, and I felt annoyed but masked my expression.

“Good morning, dear sister-in-law”, she greeted, taking a seat.

She was wearing very skimpy shorts, something she should only wear in her room. She’s so ill-mannered.

“Good morning, Rabiya,” I smiled at her. “How was your sleep?”

“Literally the best I’ve had a while,” she said, “This pack is very lucky for me, I will stay a little longer”

I rolled my eyes subconsciously in annoyance. Thankfully, nobody saw me.

“You should!” I said, excitedly. “We can go shopping after I give birth, you know?” I suggested, and she clapped happi

“I would love that, Liora”, she smiled softly. “You’re so sweet.”

She pinched Draven gently and pointed to me.

“You’re lucky to have a mate like her, brother”, she said, and a smile tugged at my lips.

I sat down to have breakfast with them, but my eyes kept looking towards the storehouse.

“What’s going on out there, Draven?” I asked, making a plate for myself.

Draven looked in the direction I pointed.

I listened, wanting to see if he would tell me the truth about what’s going on or not.

“Oh, that,” he said. “The workers are moving the grains into the ack storehouse; somebody has been stealing from us”

“Stealing?” Rabiya asked before I could say anything. “That’s so w”

“Do you have any idea who the thieves might be?” I asked.

“We have no idea who it is yet,” Draven said, taking a bite of his pancakes. “I will look into it later”

“Could it be that those hungry rogues broke the barriers and stole food from us?” I asked, and Draven looked intrigued.

It appeared to me that he hadn’t thought of that angle yet, and when I brought it up, it clicked in his mind.

“Why didn’t I think of this?” Draven looked serious. “I need to tighten the border security. Rogues shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near my pack, especially not in my barn house”

I smiled. Draven had been convinced, and I needed to make him believe it completely.

“Thank goodness Liora is here, I don’t think my brother can do anything without his mate. You two are adorable,” Rabiya said.

I find her very annoying. She butt into conversations when nobody invites her, and that irritates me so much.

We had breakfast, with Rabiya jumping into the conversation and sharing her opinions.

By the end of breakfast, Draven was right where I wanted him to be.

Once breakfast ended, I snuck out to the garden to make a call.

The phone rang thrice before it connected.

“Master, everything is handled on my end, you don’t have to worry”, I said and dropped the call.

I leaned against the swing with a smile tugging at my lips.

Everything was going according to the master’s plans, and that’s great.
