Chapter 157
Kaia–
We had breakfast with everyone in the beta wing.
Ronan couldn’t keep his eyes off of Maliya the whole time.

I would catch him stealing glances at her. Even though she pretended not to see it, I knew Maliya felt his eyes on her.
I hope they have a conversation soon. I don’t like the tension. Ronan looked like a lovesick puppy, while Maliya looked like a cold-hearted witch.
She avoided him like the plague, and I wonder why.
I would ask her about it later.
After breakfast, the men left for work while I mobilised Justine and Maliya to question Ramos’ family.
“Do you think they will talk to us?” Maliya asked as we walked towards the keep.
“And why wouldn’t they?” Justine asked, frowning. “They should be glad we are going easy on them”
“Girls! We are not interrogating them, okay?” I sigh.
“What? Why not?” Justine looked surprised.
“Theo doesn’t want them to feel like criminals; they are not the suspects. So, we will act like good girls and make them talk to us. In our own style,” I said, winking, and Justine groaned.
I chuckled, looking at her face. She’s a big fan of violence. I wonder why she was here when she could have been a soldier or scout. She could have gotten immeasurable violence working as a soldier.
“Theo is so righteous!” she sneered.
We arrived at the keep. A few men were guarding the place, and Kappa Anderanoldo came to greet us.
“My lady, you are here”, he greeted, bowing.
“Yes, take us to the guests,” I said, and he nodded, leading the way
When we got to the door, he opened it and stayed back to let us inside first, then he came in later.
Inside, the family of three were still sleeping. When they saw us, they flinched and jolted out of bed.
“Hello,” I greeted. “Sorry for barging in like this, I didn’t know you were still sleeping”, I apologised.
“There is no need to be sorry,” the older lady said. “We are hostages here, we can’t demand courtesy”
“Let’s get one thing clear,” I said, looking at their faces. “You are not hostages here. You are here to help us find the culprits,
that’s all”
“You really expect us to believe that?” Felix asked, shaking his head.
He looked frustrated, and fear was visible in his eyes. Good. Very good.
“Well, if you were hostages, I don’t think this is the place you’d be.” I looked at the keep. “You’ll be in locks up with silver chains around your wrists, feet and neck”

They exchanged looks, and I knew my words had sunk in. Being lenient and gentle with them doesn’t mean they can do whatever they want.
“So, shall we start? From the beginning?” I asked, flashing them asmile. “I’m Kaia, Alpha Theo’s mate”
They greeted me with respect.
“I want you to tell me everything that happened or noticed before Ramos left home,” I said. “If we can get our hands on any useful info, it will help us greatly”
“I’m sorry to ask, my lady, but what’s going on? Why are you after my mate?” Becky said, her eyes were moist.
She must have been crying the whole night.
I turned to face Kappa Anderonaldo.
“They don’t know yet?” I asked. Kappa Anderonaldo shook his head.
I wonder why Theo didn’t tell them. He must have his reasons, and I have to know before telling them.
Thankfully, Theo hasn’t gone out of the pack. He was in his office, so I linked him.
“Why haven’t you told them yet?” I asked, linking him.
“I wanted to tell them, but Zane felt they would withdraw information if they knew what was going on. They might try to protect Ramos,” Theo explained, linking me back.
“That’s absurd. Nevermind, I’m telling them, and if they don’t cooperate, I will assume they are accomplices of Ramos. Then, lock them up for a treasonous act against the pack,” I said, gritting.
“Okay, do what you must and be careful”, Theo urged me. I nodded and ended the connection.
I looked at Justine and Maliya, who had been waiting for a chance to speak with the family.
I squinted at them, giving the go-ahead to ask questions.
I moved closer, pulled out a seat and sat directly in front of them
“Let’s not waste any more of our time, everyone,” she clapped her hands. “The more time we waste, the more opportunities we give these tractors to abscond”
Anastasia looked at me, probably confused about what Justine was talking about.
“Since you want to know what’s going on, I will tell you,” Justine said. “Your lovely son, Ramos, is a member of a terrorist group that has been forging orders from the alpha and attacking villages. He’s the only one taking the orders to the enforcers”
“No, that’s not possible!” Anastasia said, tears streamed down her face. “My son loves this pack. He will never endanger the people’s lives”
“So, what are you implying? That we are framing him?” Justine angrily slammed her fists.
I touched her hand to calm her down.
The family must be in shock, and they wouldn’t imagine their son doing something that evil.
“Justine is telling the truth, Anastasia,” I took over. “An enforcer quted him as the one who gave him the orders to attack the deep west. That’s why we are asking for your co-operation to catch him and the mastermind, because I know he isn’t the one doing everything by himself”

Becky cried, covering her face.
“But how could Ramos do that?” Felix wondered. “My brother is not like that”
“It’s not written on the forehead, is it?” Maliya scoffed; she was annoyed, and I could tell.
Maliya rarely gets angry, but today she was livid. I wonder why.

“Look, the truth is hard to swallow, but Ramos is involved in a terrorist attack, and we need to get him before they cause more harm to the other packs and us in their next attack.
Have you considered why Ramos left home and the people he has been mingling with?”
Anastasia covered her face with her hands as tears welled in her eyes, and she began crying bitterly.
I felt her upon, but her son brought this upon them. He’s a horrible man.
“How could he do this to us? Doesn’t he understand the implication of his actions?” Becky asked, she was seething.
We gave them a moment to let everything sink in before we continued with our questions.
“What can we do to help?” Felix asked, his eyes red but without tears.
“We need names, places and anything useful to help us catch him. Once we do, the masterminds will be at arm’s length”
“The night before he left home, I heard him on the phone with someone,” Becky said, raising her head.
She wiped her tears and looked determined, ready to help, and liked it!
Yes, that’s the spirit we need right now.
Not crying over some dumbo, who endangered his family.
“What did you hear?” Justine asked.
“He was getting screamed at by a man he called boss,” Becky revealed. “At first, I thought he was talking about the Alpha, so I didn’t think much of it, as it could be work-related. However, the next day, he packed his bags and disappeared. He refused. to tell us anything about where he was going.
Later, we found out that he no longer worked with the Alpha. And the Alpha wasn’t in the city as well”
“Do you have any idea who this boss is?” I asked, and she shook her head sadly.
“I don’t know, Lady Kaia” Tears streamed down her face.
“I saw him frequenting Kingspire before,” Felix cleared his throat “Whenever I would see him, he would claim he was on an errand for the Alpha. I had no reason to doubt him”
“Can you tell the address you saw him most often?” Maliya asked
“Yes. It was the district house and the 11th Hour Club,” Felix revealed.
“Alright, thank you for your help, everyone”, I said, already tired of everything.
I stood up to leave, I was feeling a little nauseous and needed to empty my guts.
“What will happen to him, My lady?” I heard Anastasia ask, and turned to look. “Will he be alright?”
“That depends on his co-operation, Anastasia”, I breathed, feeling bad for her. “If he agrees to out his masters, he would get
