The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 168

Chapter 168

–Theo–

Kaia ran off in tears.

My heart broke seeing her cry because of everything that was happening.

However, when I turned, I saw Draven walking in, and I immediately connected the dots.

My mate wasn’t crying just because of everything happening. It was because she saw Draven.

Seeing Draven reminded her of everything she endured before.

It was like fate was repeating itself.

She felt helpless; that’s why all she could do was run off and cry.

“This is not over yet,” I mutter, brushing past Cara. “And I’ll make sure you won’t do this again”

I walked away while Cara and Elara stood there, gritting their teeth with rage.

I knew this wasn’t the outcome they expected.

However, they should know I’m not the same Theo they knew before.

I know after today, the council will schedule a meeting to discuss this matter, and I will be fully ready to face them.

I want them to bring it on.

Zane made everyone disperse while I welcomed Draven.

“Hello, Draven, my dear friend,” I greeted him, clasping his forearm in greeting, trying to keep a good face. “It’s so good to see you again. I can’t believe you made the journey.”

“Of course,” he said smoothly. “I heard about your marriage. It would be rude not to congratulate you

There was something about the way he said Luna that I couldn’t quite place.

But I brushed it aside.

“You’re welcome here,” I said. “It’s been a long journey. Come, you should rest first.”

I gestured toward the main hall, and we began walking through the pack grounds.

and

your Luna.”

Some of my warriors glanced curiously at him. A visiting Alpha always drew attention, especially one with Draven’s reputation.

“I hope the travel wasn’t too difficult,” I said as we entered the hall.

“Nothing I can’t handle,” he replied lightly. “Besides, I’ve been meaning to visit your territory for a while.

I chuckled. “To inspect it, or to judge whether I’m running it properly?”

Draven’s lips curved slightly. “Maybe both.”

I led him into the receiving chamber, where servants quickly brought drinks.

“Sit,” I said, motioning to the chair across from mine. “Relax for a moment. You must be exhausted.”

“I’m not too tired. Besides, you were generous enough to let your beta settle me in one of your hotels; that’s so kind of you.”

He sat, but I noticed something immediately.

Draven wasn’t relaxing.

His eyes were moving subtly around the room, occasionally drifting toward the door as if he expected someone to walk in.

Or was hoping someone would.

“My Luna will join us soon,” I said casually, lifting my drink.

For the first time since arriving. Draven’s fingers tightened slightly around his glass.

Only slightly, but I noticed it.

“Good,” he said after a moment. His voice was calm.

“I look forward to meeting her.”

And in that moment, something in my instincts stirred.

Because Draven didn’t sound curious.

He sounded like a man who already had a suspicion.

After settling Draven in the receiving hall, I excused myself.

“I’ll return shortly,” I told him. “Make yourself comfortable.”

He nodded calmly, though I still had the strange feeling he was waiting for something or someone.

I pushed the thought aside and walked toward my room.

When I opened the door, Kaia was sitting near the window.

The light from outside fell softly across her face. She looked calm, but the moment she saw me, her eyes searched mine like she was looking for an answer.

“You’re back already,” she said gently.

I walked over to her and sat beside her on the bed.

“Yes.”

She hesitated for a moment before asking quietly, “Is he here?”

I knew exactly who she meant.

“Draven?” I said.

She nodded slowly.

“Yes,” I confirmed. “He arrived not long ago.”

Kaia looked down at her hands for a second. Her fingers twisted slightly together, something she did when she was thinking

too much.

Chapter 168

I leaned forward a little so she would look at me.

“Listen,” I said softly. “If you don’t want to see him today, you don’t have to. I can make him leave right now.”

Her eyes widened slightly.

“You would do that?”

“Of course,” I replied. “You’re more important to me than any guest, especially a goddess forsaken man like him”

For a moment, she just looked at me, surprised.

Then she shook her head.

“No,” she said quietly. “You don’t need to send him away.”

“You’re sure?” I asked.

“Yes.” She took a small breath. “It would look strange if your Lun refused to greet a visiting Alpha.”

I studied her face carefully.

“You don’t have to pretend to be strong,” I said.

“I’m not pretending,” she replied softly. “I’m just… ready.”

Her voice was calm, but I could still see a little tension in her shoulders.

I reached for her hand and squeezed it gently.

“Alright,” I said. “But if anything makes you uncomfortable, you tell me. And we’ll end the meeting immediately.”

She nodded.

“Okay.”

I stood up and offered her

my

hand.

“Come,” I said with a small smile. “Let’s go greet our guest.”

For some reason, my instincts were still uneasy.

But I trusted Kaia.

And whatever happened next, we would face it together,

Kaia took my hand and stood up. I led her to the vanity, wiped her face with the wet wipes and helped her with her makeup.

“Shall we?” I asked, taking her hand after she finished her make-up.

She nodded and gave me a small.

On the way, her breathing slowed, like she was preparing herself for something she didn’t think she would ever face again.

I squeezed her hand again.

“I’m right here,” I said quietly.

“I know,” she replied.

Chapter 168

O

We reached the doors, and I pushed them open.

I saw Draven was still seated exactly where I left him. He had a glass of wine in his hand, but he wasn’t drinking.

But the moment we stepped in, he stood.

His eyes went straight to Kaia.

He shifted for a second, but his gaze stayed on her as if she were he last person he expected to see.

A look of Recognition flashed across his eyes.

His body went still. His gaze sharpened just a fraction.

And Kaia, her hand tightened around mine.

“Alpha Draven,” I said, stepping forward, my voice steady. “Allow me to introduce-”

“I know her.”

The words cut through the room.

And we fell silent.

My grip on Kaia tightened instinctively as I turned to look at him.

Draven’s eyes never left her.

“Kaia,” he said her name with a controlled growl, but heavy with something I couldn’t ignore.

Kaia didn’t move or speak while Draven’s eyes lingered on her.

For a moment, it felt like the air had been pulled out of the room.

I looked at Kaia.

Her face was pale, but she didn’t look away this time. Slowly, she turned to face him.

“Hello, Alpha Draven,” Kaia said with a feigned smile.

She pretended everything was fine to accommodate him, but she didn’t get the chance.

Draven suddenly let out a sharp, disbelieving laugh.

“No,” he said, stepping forward, eyes blazing now. “No, this is-this is unbelievable.”

His hand lifted, and before I could react, he pointed straight at her.

“Look at that, this is insane.”

My body tensed

“Draven-“I started.

“You brought her here?” he snapped, cutting me off. “You made er your Luna?”

The

way

he said it, like it was something filthy, made my jaw tighten with rage.

Kaia didn’t say anything; she watched.

She just stood there, her fingers gripping mine harder.

Draven let out another harsh breath, shaking his head.

“I should have known,” he continued, voice rising. “Of course, she would end up here. Of course, she would find another Alpha to cling to.”

That was enough.

“Watch your tone,” I said coldly, stepping slightly in front of Kaia

But Draven wasn’t done.

“She’s a liar,” he said, his finger still pointed at her accusingly. “A manipulator. She twists things, plays the victim. She did it in Silvermoon, and now, she will do it again.”

Kaia flinched, just slightly, but I felt it through the bond.

She was reliving the painful past Draven put her through.

My eyes darkened.

“Lower your hand,” I warned.

Draven ignored me completely, his gaze locked on Kaia.

“Tell him,” he demanded. “Tell him what you did. Tell him how you ruined everything. How you brought shame to my pack.”

Kaia’s breathing grew uneven, but she still didn’t speak.

Draven scoffed.

“What? You’re quiet now?” he mocked. “That’s new. Where is that innocent act you used to hide behind?”

“Enough.” My voice came quelled. Dangerous.

He finally looked at me.

“You don’t understand what you’ve done, Theo,” Draven said, his tone sharp but controlled now. “This woman—”

“My Luna,” I cut in, my voice firm.

A flicker of irritation crossed his face.

“This woman,” he repeated, “was once in my pack. And she nearly destroyed it.”

Silence fell heavily in the room.

My heart was steady, but my mind was turning.

I could feel Kaia behind me. She felt tense, quiet,

And Draven was hurting her with his words, and I shouldn’t allow him to humiliate her in her own home.

And that was all I needed.

“I don’t care what you think you know,” I said slowly. “You don’t walk into my pack and throw accusations at her like this. She’s my luna, and I expect you to treat her like one”

Draven’s eyes narrowed. “You’re defending her without even hearing the truth?”

“I don’t care what the truth is, Draven! I’m choosing her,” I replied.

Draven scoffed and moved back, looking at me with disbelief. He must think I was bewitched and stupid.

For a second, something shifted in Draven’s expression. I couldn’t tell whether it was anger, yes, but something else underneath it.

Something personal.

“You’re making a mistake,” he said quietly.

I didn’t hesitate.

“Then it’s mine to make,” I said. “Why do you care?”

The room went still again, only our heartbeats filled the air.

Behind me, I felt Kaia’s grip tighten on my shirt just a little, pulling me back.

I looked back, took her hand, and didn’t let go.
