Chapter 169
–Kaia–
I felt my heart palpitating.
K
I thought I had gotten over everything, but I was wrong.
Seeing Draven again reminded me of everything I went through with him and his mistress.
They took everything I hold dear to my heart from me, and I would always live in that fear.
I could have lost my life because of them.

But I blame Draven the most; if he hadn’t cheated on me with Libra and got her pregnant, none of this would have happened.
I felt my rage intensify.
It took everything for me not to go to him and punch him in the face.
Theo noticed and tightened his grip on my hand to help me breathe.
I held on tight, and I allowed myself to breathe.
But in front of us, Draven was still running his mouth, and I was beginning to lose my patience.
Then slowly, I let go of Theo’s hand.
I turned slightly, but before he could stop me, I stepped forward
“Kaia-“Theo called out to me.
“It’s fine,” I said quietly.
Theo nodded, seeing how firm I looked, and my voice wasn’t shaking anymore.
That alone made him pause. I moved to stand beside him.
Then I turned to face Draven, who looked angry. I could feel his anger rolling off him.
For a moment, neither of us spoke; we just stared at each other in disgust.
Then I tilted my head slightly, my lips curving, not into a smile; here was nothing funny about the situation, and I couldn’t let him feel like he was doing anything funny.
“So,” she said softly, “you still talk too much.”
Draven’s expression darkened. “And you still act like nothing is ever your fault.”
I let out a quiet breath.
“No,” I said. “I just don’t waste my time correcting lies anymore!”
His jaw tightened. “Lies?”
“Yes,” I replied, meeting his gaze fully now. “The same stories you told your pack. The same ones you’re repeating now like they magically became true over time.”

The tension in the room thickened.
Draven stepped closer. “You’re bold for someone who was cast out.”
I didn’t move. I felt a lump grow in my chest.
“Cast out?” I echoed. “Is that what you tell yourself to sleep at night?”
I felt the shift immediately.
Draven didn’t want to hear it. He thinks I was guilty, and that was everything that was to it.
“You didn’t cast me out, Draven,” she continued calmly. “You failed me.”
His eyes flashed.
“Watch your
words-”
“No,” I cut in, my voice still soft but now carrying weight. “You watch yours.”
Silence fell over us, and I saw Theo charging closer in case Draven attempted to hurt me.
He wouldn’t dare to do that here. Theo would kill him in cold blood.
“Do you remember,” I went on, “how quick you were to believe everyone else but me?”
Draven said nothing.
“How convenient it was,” I added, “to blame everything on me instead of actually doing your job as an Alpha.”
His hands clenched.

“You don’t get to stand here,” I continued, my voice still controlled, “pointing fingers like you were some victim in all of
that.”
“You embarrassed me,” he snapped.
I gave a small, humourless laugh.
“No,” I said. “I exposed how weak you were.”
Draven’s eyes darkened. That must have hit his ego hard.
“You couldn’t protect your own Luna,” I said, looking at him disdainfully. “You couldn’t control your pack. You couldn’t even tell who was lying right in front of you.”
Draven’s breathing grew heavier.
“And instead of fixing it,” I said, “you chose the easiest thing-blame me, throw me away, and pretend you were still a strong Alpha.”
The words landed one after another, and I saw Draven clenching his fists furiously, and I knew my words met him where I intended them to.
“You’re done?” Draven asked coldly.
I looked at him for a long second.
Then I said quietly, “I stopped expecting anything from you a long time ago.”

Then I turned away from him.
And without hesitation, I reached for my mate’s hand again.
He took my hand immediately and squeezed it gently.

Draven stood there, staring at her like he was seeing someone completely different from the girl he thought he knew.
“You tried to kill Liora and my baby. Are you going to deny that as well?” Draven
“You are really something, aren’t you?” I scoffed, pushing Theo slightly out of the way.
“I see you still haven’t changed. You still think I was responsible for how things turned out, not you and your mistress”
Draven’s face tightened with disgust.
“I won’t try to prove my innocence to you again,” I said coldly. “I did that before, and you didn’t believe me. So now, I’m not going to make you happy trying to explain myself again”
Draven and I stared at each other. I didn’t move away.
I stayed right where I was, facing him, calm and unshaken.
Then I spoke again.
“Tell me something, Draven.”
My voice was quieter now, but somehow it carried even more weight.
He didn’t answer, but his eyes stayed on me.
I took a small step forward.
“If I were truly what you say I am, if I were this manipulative, dangerous person…” I tilted her head slightly.
“Why would I try to kill Liora?” I asked, and he looked confused.
Draven’s expression flickered. I even felt that slight crack.
But I didn’t stop.
“Why would I hire rogues?” I continued. “Why would I destroy the very pack I was living in? The pack I was Luna of?”
“You never asked that, did you?” I said. I wasn’t angry, just sickened.
I was tired of being blamed for something I didn’t do.
“You never stopped to think how little sense it made.”
Draven’s jaw tightened. “You had motives-”
“What motives?” I cut in immediately. That shut him up.
My eyes didn’t leave his.
“What would I gain?” I pressed. “Power? I already had it. Status? already had that too. Protection? I was ruling by
I let my words settle.

“Or was I supposed to wake up one day and decide to destroy my own life for no reason?”
Draven said nothing.

“And rogues?” I continued, my brows drawing slightly. “You really believed I would risk everything to work with rogues?”
A bitter smile touched my lips.
“You know what rogues do to women, Draven.”
“You know exactly what kind of danger that is,” I added quietly. And yet… You believed I would willingly involve myself with them?”
The room felt suffocating now.
“You didn’t question it,” I said. “You didn’t investigate properly. You didn’t even give me a chance to defend myself.” My voice dropped. “You just decided I was guilty.”
Draven finally spoke, but it lacked the earlier confidence.
“The evidence
“The evidence you were shown,” I corrected softly.
“You never asked where it came from,” I continued. “Never questioned why it appeared so perfectly. Never wondered who benefited from it.”
Her eyes sharpened slightly. “But I did.”
That caught his attention; his brows knitted.
“And the only person who gained anything from my downfall was the one you chose over me.”
Liora.
Draven turned sharply. He looked like I had said an abominable thing.
He couldn’t say anything, but I could feel the shift in the air.
Draven’s expression darkened, but this time, it wasn’t anger alone.
It was uncertainty; he looked like I had broken his walls.
I exhaled slowly.
“I didn’t destroy your pack,” I said quietly. “I just wasn’t worth the truth to you.”
“Do you know what’s actually funny, Draven?” I asked, scoffing.
He stood there looking at me without saying a word.
I let out a soft breath.
“Everything that happened back then…” I continued, my eyes locking onto his, “It was because of you.”
His brows pulled together. “Don’t twist the truth-”
“I’m not twisting anything,” I cut in sharply.

“You didn’t keep it in your pants,” I said bluntly. “If you hadn’t cheated on me with Liora, none of this would have happened”
Silence crashed down on us.
My chest tightened slightly, recalling everything.
Draven’s face darkened. “Watch your-”
“No,” I snapped, my voice rising just a little for the first time. “You watch yours.”
I took a step closer to him.
“You cheated on me,” I continued, each word clear and precise, exactly how I was feeling. “While I was your Luna. While I stood beside you. While I defended the pack with you”
Draven clenched his fists.
“And when everything started falling apart,” I went on, “instead of owning up to your mistakes…” my lips curled bitterly. “You let her fix it for you.”
“You let Liora frame me.”
Draven’s expression flickered, just for a second.
“You believed her,” I added quietly. “Without question. You didn’t care to double-check the proof. Without even looking at me like I deserved to speak.”
My voice dropped, but it didn’t lose its strength.
“So don’t stand here,” I said, “and blame me for anything.”
“Don’t call me a liar over something I didn’t do, and don’t stand there and act like I destroyed your pack because I didn’t” I shook her head slightly. “You did that.”
“And now,” I continued, my tone softer but firmer, “I have a new life.”
I turned to look at Theo, my husband and Mate. Who has been nothing but amazing to me?
He was everything I could ever ask for in a life
Then I looked back at him.
partner.
“I have someone who chooses me,” I boastfully said. “Who listen to me without questions. Someone who doesn’t thro away the moment things get difficult!”
Draven’s jaw tightened.
“And I won’t let you ruin that,” I finished.
My voice was steady, I knew what I was doing and this time, I won’t let Draven cast his evil shadow over my happiness.
“You lost that right the day you chose her over me. Stay away from my life, Draven.”
Draven fell silent, as if he had lost his voice, but his gaze lingered on me.
He looked deeply uncomfortable, and I didn’t care.
And for the first time since he walked in, Draven looked like a man who wasn’t sure of his own story anymore.
