The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 179

Chapter 179

–Kaia–

It’s been five days since the court summons.

I heard what Theo said to Cara, and I was pleased.

If he hadn’t done it, I would have dragged that woman to hell by myself.

Luckily, she had stayed out of my way since the court day, and I was glad we understood each other.

However, this morning, we received information from the council that an inter-pack investigation had been filed, and Draven was notified.

Hopefully, this time, that two-faced witch, Liora, will face the consequences of her actions. If it were left to Draven, he would take her side until the end.

I wasn’t worried about him anymore. Whatever he does is none of my business now.

But I know I won’t let him get away with what he did to me. Both him and Liora, I will collect my revenge.

After getting ready, I decided to visit the doctor and pick up a few things for the baby.

I was bored at home, and Theo wasn’t home either.

Zane took Justine out for sightseeing. They deserve to have a good time after everything they’ve gone through the last couple of days.

And Maliya went home to see her family. She would be back in two days; she left yesterday.

And now, I’m all by myself. It felt so strange without my friends around.

Truly, you’ll never know the value of what you have until you lose it.

I got into the car, and my driver took me there.

Thankfully, Theo arranged a personal driver who also doubled as my security.

When I stepped into the hospital, I was welcomed by a pungent smell.

gagged, getting a sudden urge to throw up,

The hospital smelled like disinfectant and lavender, and my stomach churned at this.

My gynaecologist tried to make me feel better by cracking bad jokes. They helped a little, but all I wanted to do was get out

of there.

It was strange, as if I was reacting to something.

This has never happened to me before, and my mind wasn’t settled.

“Everything looks good, Kaia,” my doctor said after reviewing my reports. “In another week, we can check the baby’s gender”

“I dont want to check my baby’s gender,” I mouthed, smiling. “I will love whatever the moon goddess gave me”

“That’s so sweet, Luna Kaia”, Maggie gushed, and I smiled. “I’ve written down your next appointment, but I’ll still text it to you. However, if you can’t come to the hospital, I will come to the pack instead”

“Oh my goodness,” I remarked. “That would really be helpful. Thank you”

“Of course. I know you have a lot on your plate since becoming luna. This is the least I can do to help,” Maggie said, and it warmed my heart.

“I will see you at home,” I said, straightening my shirt. “I will treat you to a cup of coffee then”

“Sure, Luna Kaia”, Maggie said. “I look forward to that”

Doctor Maggie walked out of her office, and I urged her to return.

She was busy, and I shouldn’t disturb her with formalities.

I know I’m the luna, I dont need to be treated differently from the others to show that

When I stepped out into the parking lot, the hairs on my arms rose.

That strange…buzzing feeling again.

I paused, holding my keys in hand, and slowly looked over my shoulder.

There was Nothing there, and I was baffled.

Just an old lady struggling with her grocery bags and a guard scrolling through his phone.

I shook it off.

Maybe I was just tired.

My hormones must be acting up lately, and I was becoming extra paranoid. I guessed.

I left the hospital and drove to a shopping mall just 10 minutes away.

I noticed the mall was extra crowded today.

Probably because it was almost Valentine’s Day, and lovers were getting gifts ready for their better halves.

It was beautiful to see people scrambling to get what they wanted.

I drifted from store to store, trying to distract myself. Theo had insisted I take the day to breathe – after the council drama, I needed it.

But the feeling came back. This time, it was Stronger and almost choking.

It felt like a pair of eyes pressed against the back of my neck, watching my every move.

I froze near a perfume counter.

My pulse stumbled ferociously.

Someone was watching me, and I knew my instincts couldn’t be wrong every time.

I casually turned, pretending to check a display mirror, and scanned the people behind me.

When I turned, I saw a few people behind me.

A couple was arguing face-to-face.

Two teenagers are looking at a few Valentine’s gifts on display and laughing.

Also, a deliveryman was carrying boxes into the store next door.

And the last person I noticed was a mother pushing a stroller with her baby inside.

No one looked suspicious. But the feeling wouldn’t stop.

My heart tightened. I stepped away from the counter, pretending to look at clothes.

Every time I moved, the sensation moved with me. I caught my breath sharply.

Then I tried again. This time, I took a glance behind me, scanning fast and agilely.

But there was nothing there.

“Get a grip, Kaia,” I whispered to myself.

But my wolf senses what little I had were screaming.

Something was wrong. Someone was watching me. I could feel it deep in my bones.

I know for sure, I wasn’t imagining it.

I took a slow, steady breath, reached for my phone, and dialled Theo.

I pressed Theo’s number, holding the phone tight to stop my hands from shaking.

He picked up on the second ring.

“Kaia? Everything okay?”

His voice instantly soothed me, but that uneasy feeling still clawed at my spine.

“Are you… coming back soon?” I asked, trying to sound normal, like my heart wasn’t punching my ribs.

I didnt want him to worry about me; it was best for both of us this way.

He let out a sigh, the tired kind.

“I’m sorry, baby. I got caught up with things at work. It’s a mess here. I won’t be able to return soon.”

Paper shuffled on his end. A few murmured here and there, and I knew it was out of his control.

“I really didn’t plan for this. But, now that it has happened this way, I will have to stay back and finish up”

My throat tightened.

The easiest thing would’ve been to say I think someone is following me.

But I didn’t.

Chapter 179

He already had so much on his shoulders: the impending terror attack, Cara, and his health

I couldn’t add this. Not yet, not until I knew it wasn’t in my head.

“It’s alright,” I said softly. “Handle what you need to handle. “I forced a small laugh. “I’m just being a little clingy.”

“You’re allowed to be clingy,” he muttered. “I miss you.”

My stomach fluttered, even with fear choking me. “Just keep me updated, okay?”

“I will. And Kaia?”

“Yeah?”

“Don’t go anywhere alone for too long. Stay safe, alright?”

A chill ran through me. Why did he say that?

“Okay,” I whispered.

He hung up.

I lowered the phone slowly, staring at my reflection in a shop window.

I looked around and saw how everyone was going about their day.

I knew I wasn’t hallucinating, but I couldn’t match a face to my feelings, and now it looks like it was all in my head.

I felt something move behind me, and when I turned to look again, it was gone.

Only a faint shadow slipping out of sight remained.

My heart stopped, and I wasn’t imagining it.

Someone was watching me.

I wonder who this person was and what they wanted from me.
