The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 186

Chapter 186

“What are you saying, Draven?” My father stood up.

He looked at me, then his eyes drifted to Liora, who was shielding her belly.

I sighed.

I didn’t tell them about my marriage to Liora nor my rejection of Kaia.

My parents loved Kaia and had so much faith in her. They’d be heartbroken if I told them what Kaia did, and I didn’t want to hurt them while they were that far away.

I kept it a secret from them.

I didn’t know they would show up unannounced. I would have done something to prepare them for this

moment.

I looked at Liora and then at my parents.

My mother stepped forward, and her eyes landed on the mating mark on Liora’s neck.

The moment she saw that, her eyes widened in shock.

I guess she initially thought I was joking around.

She gasped and covered her mouth. My father did too.

For a moment, they didn’t say anything. They stared at each other and then at Liora and me.

They were probably having a hard time digesting the truth I had just told them.

Liora curtsied politely. “Welcome back, Alpha’s parents. It’s an honour to meet finally-”

My mother cut her off without even looking at her.

“Draven,” she said slowly, carefully, “why is she marked?”

My chest tightened.

I knew this moment would come. I didn’t expect it to feel like someone had ripped open a wound I’d been pretending didn’t exist.

“We’re married, Mother”, I forced out. “Liora is my Luna now.”

My father’s face hardened into something cold and unrecognisable.

My mother’s hand pressed against her heart.

“Married?” she whispered. “You’re married to her?”

Liora stepped closer to me like she wanted to hold my arm, but I shifted away.

This wasn’t the time. I needed to make my parents understand.

My mother blinked rapidly, as if trying to process the impossible.

“What about Kaia?”

A crack tore through me.

“We ended things,” I said with my jaw clenching.

My father stepped forward, his eyes were blazing as he tried to hold himself down.

“Ended? Draven, she was your fated mate.” My father said.

“I know.” The words scraped out of my throat before I could stop myself.

“And you still rejected her?” He asked, shaking his head.

He didn’t need to say it out loud. I knew what was running through his mind, and the look on his face was enough for me to know that he was disappointed in me.

My mother shook her head, tears already forming in her eyes.

Chapter 186

“Oh, Draven… how could you? Kaia adored you.”

Liora stiffened beside me, her jaw tightening.

“She did more than adore him,” Liora said coldly. “She betrayed -”

“She would never betray this pack,” my father snapped before she could finish. “Don’t speak about her like that again.”

Liora shrank back, but my parents weren’t done.

My mother stepped closer to me, her voice trembling.

“Kaia grew up in this house. We practically raised that girl. She was kind, loyal, and gentle,” She pointed out.” She was strong, Stronger than any of us realised.”

A tear slid down her cheek. “She was meant to stand beside you.”

At that moment, I recalled Kaia holding my parents’ hands and promising them she would never leave my side.

My teeth ground together. I was disgusted.

“Remember when she threw herself in front of you when the rogue went for your throat.” My mom said, reminding me of a past incident.

I looked away, feeling suffocated by the praises they were showering on Kaia. She doesn’t deserve it.

And they would be disappointed when they learn her truth. I can’t imagine how shattered they would be.

“That wound on your shoulder?” my father added. “It was meant for your heart. She saved your life, Draven.” He paused. “And you banished her for it.”

Their roaring filled my ears, and I was getting frustrated.

I clenched my fists, stopping myself from exploding, but the more I listened to them, the angrier I became.

“We know for sure Kaia was the right match for you,” my father said. “Why would you go and blow it all up? What were you thinking?”

My chest tightened until it felt like my ribs were going to crack.

I couldn’t take it anymore.

“You’re wrong!” I snapped, rage ripping out of me raw.

“You didn’t see what Kaia did. You weren’t there. She tried to kill Liora!”

Both of them stared at me. They didn’t look shocked, and that surprised me.

“Draven,” my mother folded her arms. Kaia would never try to kill anyone.”

“She tried to kill your mate, Draven?” my father added. “The same girl who carried you through your Alpha training? The girl who covered for you every time you slacked? The girl who stood beside you at every ceremony?”

I clenched my fists, heat pounding in my temples.

“Your affection for her blinds you,” I snarled.

“You weren’t here when everything happened, Father. She conspired with rogues to kill Liora and my child” My father barked a laugh. He didn’t believe a thing I was saying, and I was enraged.

Kaia has them in her clutches.

“Do you mean the accusation that came entirely from her?” He stepped closer. “You’re smarter than this, Draven. At least, I thought you were.”

My jaw locked. My chest twisted with shame and hurt.

My mother shook her head slowly toward me.

“Kaia stayed by your side’ for years, Draven,” she muttered. “She had never once complained. She loved you, and you threw her away the second someone else batted her eyelashes at you.”

Liora stiffened at that, but neither of my parents even glanced at her.

“You cheated on her,” my mother accused, her voice trembling.

“You broke your oath to her. Broke her spirit and snatched everything that she held dear to her heart away from her. And when she couldn’t fight back, and was already drowning, you kicked her out.”

“That’s not what happened!” I shouted, frustration clawing at my throat.

“I had reasons! Kaia-she’s barren!” The words burst out before I could stop them.

And the second they left my mouth, the room went silent.

My mother’s face crumpled like she’d been slapped.

My father’s eyes widened, then hardened into pure disgust.

“So that’s your justification?” My father spoke disdainfully.

He stepped forward, towering over me.

“That she might not be able to give you an heir?”

“That’s not what I-”

“Is that why you treated her like dirt?” he snapped. “Because she might have had a medical issue? Something that could’ve been treated? Something she didn’t choose?”

My throat went dry while facing his rage. I felt my palms become sweaty.

“You don’t understand,” I forced out. “She hid this fact from me and lied.”

“She lied because she was scared!” my mother yelled back. “Scared you would throw her away, which is exactly what you did!”

I flinched. The truth of it burned.

My father shook his head slowly, in a way that made my stomach sink.

“A real man protects his mate,” he said coldly. Not only did you blame her for something that wasn’t her fault. You cheated on poor Kaia, humiliated her in front of the whole pack and then finally, you banished her.”

His eyes locked onto mine, full of disappointment I hadn’t seen since I was a child.

“You don’t deserve her.”

My breath caught.

“And for the record?” He leaned in close. “Being barren, if she even is, is not a reason to mistreat someone the way you did. Only a coward uses that excuse.”

Heat crawled up my neck and struggled with my collar.

My mother wiped another tear.

“In all our years, Draven, I never thought you’d become the kind of man who hurts the girl who loved you most.”

Liora shifted beside me, uncomfortable, but no one looked at her.

My father turned away.

“We didn’t come back to see this. We came back to see the Alpha who knew loyalty and honour.”

“And Kaia,” my mother whispered. “We came back to see Kala.”

The ache in my chest deepened.

Because, for the second time today, I wondered if everyone else was right.

And that terrified me.

A pulse throbbed in my neck, and I massaged it while my mind ran wild.

“You think I made a mistake?” I growled.

My father didn’t even blink. “I think you believed the wrong person.”

Chapter 186

At this moment, I couldn’t tell what was real from fake anymore.

Everyone else seemed to believe Kaia was innocent, which surprised me.

My father turned away from me as if he couldn’t bear to look at the son he raised.

“You need to fix this,” he said. “Before it destroys you.”

When they left, I looked at Liora, who was annoyed but tried to conceal it.

At that moment, I wanted to be alone and clear my mind.

“Sweetheart,” I hugged Liora. “Don’t take their words to heart. I’m sorry they said that in front of you”

Liora tightened her arms around me, and tears fell from her eyes.

I held her for a while and finally let her go when she asked me to.

Once she was calm, I left her in our room and went for a walk outside.

My mind drifted back to when Kaia risked her life to save mine.
