Chapter 187
, gritting my teeth hard until it felt like they would fall out.
How dare Draven’s parents treat me like that? They taunted me because of Kaia?
And Draven? The way he looked when his parents took Kaia’s side.
Draven’s expression changed from the disgust he felt for Kaia into something I couldn’t name, and it scared
This wasn’t happening.
It looked as if he was remembering something good about Kaia.
Kaia, that useless, pathetic girl who should’ve stayed dead and forgotten.
My heartbeat slammed against my ribs as I stood there, smiling tightly while his parents kept praising Kaia as if she were some saint.
Like she hadn’t been a stain on the pack. That vicious whore had threatened everything I deserved.
My palms were sweating.
“She saved you. She risked her life and stood in front of the rogue for you.” The moment Draven’s mother said that, I saw Draven’s eyes twitch.
At that moment, I felt something cold crawl up my spine.
He remembered something important about their relationship. And I watched him crumble under his parents’
pressure.
At first, he took my side and defended me, but soon his shoulders sagged.
He probably wasn’t aware, but his hands trembled.
Draven was thinking of Kaia, that stupid girl was ruining everything I worked so hard to build despite her absence.
I wanted to scream, but I kept it to myself and watched Draven salvage the situation.
Finally, his parents left us alone, and Draven reassured me that he was on my side.
I wish I could trust his wChapter 187
~~Liora~~
No, I can’t accept this.
The moment Draven left the room, I hopped to my feet.
I clenched my fistsords, but I was losing grip on him, and I was scared they would turn him against me.
I held my screams in and faked a smile to calm Draven down, and when he left for a walk, I couldn’t hold it any longer.
The moment Draven left the room, I slammed the door behind him.
Finally alone, and the mask on my face shattered.
“Dammit!” I hissed, grabbing a vase and smashing it against the wall.
Pieces of the broken vase flew everywhere.
“He was supposed to forget her!” I screamed. “Why does she have everyone in her tight leash?”
I kicked the door multiple times, but my rage was still building. I didn’t even care about the noise.
My heart was pounding too hard in my chest.
Everything I had built, my years of carefully crafted lies, were slipping through my fingers.
If he started questioning the banishment and dug deep into it, everything would collapse, and I would lose everything.
My breathing turned sharp.

Chapter 187
“No, this can’t happen,” I muttered, pacing the room, gripping my hair. “He can’t turn on me. Not after everything I did for him. For our little family.”
A bitter laugh tore from my throat.
“Everything I did for myself, I must say,” I smiled, twirling.
Hell, I never wanted Draven.
I only wanted the prestige and power that came with the title. I wanted to be a Luna, and marrying Draven ensured that.
Kaia had it all the respect, attention and the Luna position, and she didn’t even deserve it.
She didn’t know how to use it. She wasted everything, and so I took it.
I worked hard to earn it, and now it is slipping away because this family couldn’t forget one little relationship they have with Kaia?
“No,” I snapped, slamming my fist into the wall. “I won’t let her take him back. I won’t let her ruin this. I’ve come too far to surrender”
“I’ll burn this whole pack to the ground before I let Kaia come back and claim everything I worked hard for.”
My chest rose and fell sharply as I forced myself to breathe.
“Think, Liora”, “I stamped my feet. “What should I do? What?”
I wiped my eyes quickly. I was seething with rage.
Soon, a glimmer of thought popped up in my head, and I grinned.
If Draven was slipping, then I just had to tighten my grip.
I will use force or deceit if I have to.

I shouldn’t be in Draven’s office right now, but I couldn’t help it.
I only came into Draven’s office to make sure nothing incriminating was lying around.
But the moment I stepped into it, the first thing I saw was a crumpled piece of paper lying around, and I got curious.
My pulse quickened, and I crouched and picked it up.
A discarded envelope on the floor, half-crumpled, half-open, like trash he’d thrown away in a fit of anger.
The seal caught my eye first. It was a bold and official one; it was impossible to ignore.
Shadowclaw Interpack Council.
And then I saw her name, Kaia Nightshade.
“Kaia is alive?” I asked, my lips quivering with shock. “How is that possible?
My vision blurred for a moment.
No! No! How is that possible?
She was supposed to be nothing by now. I made sure of it. I sent several dangerous rogues after her.
There is no way she could have survived their lethal bites.
My hands shook as I ripped the letter open completely.
My stomach dropped when I read the letter.
The Shadowclaw pack is investigating Kaia’s banishment.
I gritted so hard my teeth cracked, rage filled my stomach instantly, hot and choking.
Kaia wasn’t just alive. She was being backed and defended by a powerful pack.
And Draven never told me.

My hand trembled as I held the piece of paper.
“What the hell is this?” My voice cracked in a whisper.
I stormed out of the office and found Draven in the hallway, talking to the warriors.
He dismissed them when he saw my expression.
Before he could say anything, I flung the letter in front of his face.
“Do you want to explain this?” I asked, holding the letter to him.
Draven froze.
“You went through my office?” he muttered, his jaw tightening.
“That’s all you care about?” I snapped. “That I found it? Not that she’s-”
I shook the paper angrily.
“Alive? Protected? And getting defended despite everything she did to me?”
His eyes flickered, and he looked away, probably feeling guilty.
“You knew all this time?” My lips quivered.
Something ugly twisted inside me.
“You knew she wasn’t just I’ve, she’s thriving. And you didn’t tell me.”
“Liora-”
“Don’t ‘Liora’ me!” I screamed, the sound rolling off the walls.
I was seething with rage, and I knew very well what Kaia’s coming back meant.
Because Kaia wasn’t curled up somewhere broken anymore.
She wasn’t a pathetic wolf anymore; she was rising.
And Draven had kept that from me.
“Do you have any idea how humiliating this is?” I spat. “Everyone out there knows before I do? They’re investigating her banishment like she’s some innocent little saint?”
His jaw clenched. “It’s serious. The council doesn’t accuse without evidence.”
His words stabbed me.
“What kind of evidence, Draven?” I asked, stepping closer. “What exactly is out there that makes them so sure?”
He hesitated. And that hesitation was a confession.
“Oh my gods,” I whispered. “You’re doubting it now, too. Aren’t you?”
He didn’t answer; he didn’t have to say anything for me to know he has doubts now.
I could feel it.
Everything I’d built was starting to sway under the weight of Kaia’s name.
The letter fell from my hand.
“Tell me,” I breathed, “are you hiding anything else from me? Or is Kaia doing that job all by herself?”
He flinched.
And suddenly I wasn’t angry anymore, I was terrified.
Because Kaia wasn’t gone, and I was in danger of getting exposed.
Draven moved close to me and took my hand, taking me to our room.
I wanted to push him away, but I didn’t want to ruin the little chance I had to get him back under my feet.
“I would end doubt you, Liora”, Draven said, cupping my face. “I got the letter this morning, and before I had the chance to tell you, my parents came and ruined everything”

Draven pulled me into his arms, and I smirked, knowing that I didn’t lose my grip on him after.
