The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189

I stood there, watching my mother disappear from the office.

I was stunned by her reaction, which shocked me to the core.

What was so special about Kaia that she got so mad at me for letting her go?

Everyone was behaving strangely about Kaia, and it was frustrating the hell out of me.

Determination ran up my spine, and I was suddenly interested in getting to the bottom of everything.

I rushed back to my room to get dressed, and when I got there, Liora was awake.

“Hello, love,” I kissed her neck, and she giggled.

She was combing her hair, so she had her back turned to me.

“I didn’t know you were awake already”

“I woke up a little while ago and took a bath,” Liora said, hugging my waist. “I was coming to find you once I was done here”

“That’s already darling”, I said. “I went for breakfast, but I couldn’t eat anything. My parents are on my neck, and it’s so frustrating”

Her face tightened.

“I’m sorry you are going through this because of me,” Liora said pitifully, and my heart sank. “You don’t deserve this. Don’t worry, I will go away from here, and I’ll raise the baby on my own”

“Hey,” I remarked. “What are you saying? I will not let them ruin what we have. I promise”

I hugged her tightly, and she cried in my arms a little bit.

Once she calmed down, I ordered the omegas to bring her breakfast to the room.

I didn’t want her to meet my parents. They might get into a fight.

“I have some work to inspect,” I informed her while she was eating. “I will be back soon. Please don’t fight with my mother, it’s not good for you”

“I won’t,” she beamed at me.

“Please, for my and our baby’s sake”, I emphasised, and she nodded.

After that, I didn’t wait.

I grabbed my jacket and wallet and drove out of the pack.

By the time I got to the hideout, my men informed me they had the suspect in place.

I parked the car and strode straight into the hideout.

When I pushed open the door, it slammed against the wall hard enough to crack the plaster.

Healer Seraphine jolted up from the seat she was waiting in, and her trembling hands shook vigorously when she saw me.

“M-My Alpha,” she stammered. “Is everything okay? These people kidnapped me from the chamber. Please

save me”

I ignored her pleas and sat down coldly.

Her eyes widened when I sat down close to her. Before I could say anything, she jumped to her feet and sat on the floor, avoiding my eyes.

Good, I smirked.

I tossed the medical file to her, and she picked it up.

It was Kaia’s medical report. The same one that claimed Kala was barren.

The same one that convinced me I was justified injecting her

“Read it,” I ordered.

She picked it up with trembling fingers. Her throat bobbed as she swallowed.

“Alpha…” she stuttered. “I remember this document.”

“Good,” I snarled. “Now tell me why the numbers don’t match the healer logs. Why do Kaia’s test results look edited? And why is your signature on a report? I know damn well you didn’t run.”

Sweat beaded on her forehead. She started shaking her head.

“I-I don’t understand-”

I slammed my hand on the table, making her jump.

“Don’t lie to me, Seraphine.”

She froze. Her breathing quickened, and then her shoulders slumped.

Like she was finally ready to tell the truth.

“Alpha…” she whispered. “I didn’t want to do it.”

My blood turned cold.

“Do what?”

She closed his eyes, tears gathering at the corners.

“Luna Liora came to me. She said Kaia was sick and infertile, that you needed to know before staying with her for far longer than you already did.”

I ground my teeth.

“And you believed her?”

“She threatened me,” she choked. “She said if I didn’t rewrite Kaia’s results, she’d tell the Council I’d been stealing medicinal herbs. I would’ve lost my license and my livelihood.”

I stared at her.

“You forged the results,” I said slowly. “Knowing what it would do to Kaia. Knowing what it would do to me.”

She broke down.

“Yes,” she sobbed. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t think you would actually reject her! I thought- I thought you’d investigate. I thought it wouldn’t go that far. I never imagined”

I stepped back, feeling dizzy.

It felt as if the room was tilting, and I was struggling to keep my balance.

Liora forged everything.

Kaia wasn’t barren. Liora forged everything and made me believe she wouldn’t be able to give birth ever.

Tears welled up in my eyes, but I dabbed them away and turned to Seraphine again.

“How could you do this?” I asked, my voice cracking. “You practically raised Kala. How could you betray her like that?”

“I’m sorry, Alpha, I didn’t mean to hurt anyone,” Seraphine’s lips quivered. “I’m sorry”

I gritted my teeth, rage boiling inside of me.

“What else did you do for her?” I asked. “This can’t be the only lie you told. Tell me the truth right now,

otherwise, I will have your head chopped and hung on the road”

Seraphine fell on her knees, wailing and looked ashamed of herself.

I staggered backwards, knowing that whatever Seraphine would say next wouldn’t be something nice.

“My testimony..” She hesitated, scared of my action.

“Say it!” I yelled, and she shivered.

Chapter 189

“My testimony in court against Luna Kaia was a lie”, Seraphine admitted, and my head went blank.

“What did you say?” I asked.

“I’m sorry, Alpha, I swear I was forced to lie against Kaia”, Seraphine said.

I punched the wall and broke my hand, my blood was boiling, and I needed to let it out.

“How could you do that!” I yelled. “Do you realise what you’ve done?”

Seraphine didn’t answer, and I’d hope, for her own sake, she didn’t. Otherwise, she would be my punching bag.

“What is the truth?” I asked, feeling stupid. “Who tried to kill Liora if it wasn’t Kaia? Why did Liora have claw marks on her body? Let’s not forget that the rogues pointed her out”

“It was Lady Kaia,” Seraphine said. “Because truly, Lady Kaia was in my chamber getting her hand bandaged when the incident occurred.

The truth is, Liora led the rogues into the northern border by herself and got them to hurt her to frame Kaia”

“… What? What are you saying?” I was shocked. “How could she possibly do that? How can anyone hurt themselves like that? Is this another made-up lie of yours in an attempt to save your skin? I would be a fool to trust a word you say”

“Trust me this once, Alpha”, Seraphine begged.

“Can you prove it?”

“Yes, I have evidence,” Seraphine said. “I have recordings of her admitting to this”

Immediately, she pulled out her phone and played a recording.

“It was so easy to get rid of Kaia, wasn’t it?” I heard Liora say in the recording. “All I had to do was pay a few rogue peanuts and get them to do my job for me. They hurt me, testified against Kaia, and she got banished. Haha, I’m a genius, aren’t I?”

“This is not true, right?” I asked, pointing at her phone. “That’s not Liora, and she hadn’t been lying to me, right?”

Seraphine lowered her head, and I got my answers.

I turned away, pulling my hair in frustration.

I refused to believe it.

“Lady Kaia never made any attempts on Luna Liora’s life,” Seraphine spoke again. “It was all a made-up lie to separate the two of you”

“Why! Why are you just telling me this now?” I asked, balling my fists.

“It was never my intention to hurt you, and Lady Kaia, but I was scared of Liora; she’s a dangerous woman”

“What do you mean?” I asked, curious.

“If she could get Lady Kaia, who was the Luna of our pack, banished, getting rid of me would be a piece of cake for her”, Seraphine explained, and I agreed that it made sense. “She’s not as innocent as she looks” Kaia wasn’t the monster Liora made her out to be. She was innocent alone, and I destroyed her for a lie.

Seraphine sank to her knees.

“Alpha, please have mercy on me. I’ll testify. I’ll tell the Silvermoon Council everything -don’t banish me, I beg of you”

I didn’t answer.

My heart was pounding too loudly as the truth was suffocating me.

Finally, I whispered. “Get up.”

She hesitated but obeyed.

“You will write a full confession,” I said. “You will sign it. You will swear it under oath. And then you will give me every single report you falsified.”

“I will.” She nodded rapidly, tears falling. “I will, Alpha.”

“And if I found out, you try to inform Liora about this, forget about killing you. I will dissolve your whole family in acid while you watch”

I turned to leave. But I paused at the door.

Without looking back.

“If anything happens to Kaia because of what your lie started, my voice dropped, cold “There will be nothing left of you for your ancestors to bury.”

“Carlos, keep her locked until I say so and heavily guarded, too,” I ordered.

Then I walked out.

My head was spinning painfully. I couldn’t believe what I had done.

I don’t remember walking back to my car.

One moment, I was leaving the hideout, and tears blurred my eyes.

I feel so stupid, remembering all the things I did to Kaia.

And the next, I was slamming the bar’s door behind me and collapsing into the nearest chair like the strength had been ripped out of my bones.

The healer’s confession echoed in my head.

My hands dropped to my face. Kaia was never the problem; it had always been me.
