Chapter 191
–Kaia–
Leaving Shadowclaw without Theo was harder than I thought.
But on Theo’s insistence, I decided to go.
Theo took my hand and walked me to the car after Maliya and Justine came to hug me goodbye.
I felt sad leaving them alone; it would be boring without them for sure.
The wind was colder than usual, or maybe it was just me.

I stood beside the black SUV waiting by the pack house steps, my fingers twisting the edge of my jacket as Theo adjusted the collar for me.
He’d barely slept. I could see it in the darkness under his eyes, and his jaw tightened a little; I could tell he was as sad as I was.
He was trying to hold it together for both of us.
“I still don’t like this,” I whispered.
“I know.” His thumb brushed my cheek. “But I need you safe.”
The word felt heavy on his lips.
Like everything was slipping out of his control, and I was being removed before the storm hit.
“I can fight,” I said softly. “I’ve fought before.”
His eyes closed for a moment, and there was pain in them.
“Kaia… you’re pregnant. And they’re not just attacking at random; they’re planning. Coordinating attacks against us. Not to mention, they’ve warned you before. This is different.”
I knew he was right. But it didn’t make this any easier.
“I hate leaving you,” I breathed.
He stepped closer until our foreheads touched.
“I’ll join you once things settle here. I promise. But right now, the safest place for you and the baby is with the Nightshade pack.”
I swallowed hard.
The Nightshade pack.
I barely know those people, but Theo seemed to trust them so much.
Somehow, I felt a strange connection with that place. I didn’t understand.
And the dream I had last night, the hands dragging me away, the skull crest gleaming in the dark, was still lingering in my
mind.
Everything felt like it was closing in.

Chapter 191
I felt it had something to do with my past, and I had to find out how it was all connected.
Theo cupped my face gently. “I need you to trust me on this.”
“I do.” My voice trembled. “That’s why I’m going.”
A faint smile touched his lips; he looked sad and grateful at the same time.
Then he kissed me and buried his nose in my neck, breathing in my scent slow and grounding, like he was memorising the
feel of me.
Zane cleared his throat in the distance, waiting for us to finish.
Theo pulled back, brushing away a tear I didn’t realise had fallen.
“They’ve secured the jet,” he said. “No one but Nightshade warriors and my men will be on board. You’ll be protected from the moment you leave until you land.”
I nodded, even though my chest felt tight.
I wasn’t afraid of the Nightshade pack. I was just sad about leaving Shadowclaw behind in a difficult time like this.
I’m their Luna; I should stay and fight.
Theo opened the SUV door for me, but before I stepped in, I grabbed his wrist.
“You’ll call me every hour?” I said, looking into his eyes.
“Every hour,” he promised.
“And you won’t do anything reckless?”
His mouth twitched. “I’ll try not to.”
“Theo,” I warned softly.
He sighed. “Okay. No recklessness. Just handling things the way they should be done”
I leaned up and kissed him again. “I’ll miss you.”
“I’ll miss you more.”
I took a deep breath and slid into the seat.
The door closed, and the engine rumbled to life.
Theo stepped back, but he never took his eyes off me, even as the car began to move.
I pressed my palm to the window, and he lifted his hand in return
The distance grew until the pack house faded behind the trees.
And a strange feeling washed over me, like this wasn’t just a trip.
It felt like something was shifting, and it made me feel uneasy.
The drive to the hangar was fast, and I got settled in the jet soon.
My bodyguard was behind me while the warriors took their positions.

It was the same skull crest.
Before I could react, she tugged her sleeve down, hiding it again.
“Rest if you can, Luna. It’s a long flight. Please tell me if you need anything,” then she walked away.
But my pulse didn’t settle because now I was sure I hadn’t been imagining it.
Someone was watching me. And they were much closer than I thought.
After this, I couldn’t sit still anymore.
My palms were damp, my heart pounding so loudly I could hear.
I kept replaying the glimpse of that symbol in my head.
I needed to confirm it and make sure my eyes weren’t betraying me or that I was in danger.
I unbuckled my seatbelt quietly.
Riven, scar-jaw warrior, noticed immediately.
“Luna? Do you need something?”
I swallowed. “I… I want to stretch my legs.”
He nodded, but his eyes followed my every movement.
His protectiveness was good and comforting, but it also made my nerves spike.
If someone on this jet meant me harm, Riven and the others might be their targets too.
I walked down the narrow aisle, my steps slow and deliberate.
The flight attendant, the woman with the mark, was at the mini-galley, her back turned as she sorted utensils.
I approached her quietly.
“Excuse me.”
She tensed slightly, but I caught it.
She turned around, her face soft and polite.
“Yes, Luna?”
My gaze dropped to her wrist. It was covered, and I couldn’t see anything.
“Can I get another bottle of water?” I asked calmly, masking everything twisting inside me.
“Of course.” She handed one over.
But when our fingers brushed, something happened.
I felt a sharp, dark spark rush through me.
It felt like touching something that wasn’t meant to exist in daylight.
My wolf shouldn’t sense things like this. But I did.
