The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 192

Chapter 192

After a short while, the jet touched down smoothly, but I still had my guards up.

I got out with the help of River and his men, who helped me get into my car.

River rode in the same car as me while his men rode with the Nightshade men.

Luna Morgana had arranged for a car to bring me to the pack, and I was grateful for her thoughtfulness.

I was tired; I didn’t have time to sleep on the jet, and my eyes were shutting down.

“Are you alright, Luna?” River turned back to ask, and I nodded.

It must have been so obvious for him to notice.

I leaned my head on the car side and dozed off a bit.

When I jerked up again, we had gotten to the pack.

I wiped my face, applied my lipstick, and stepped out of the car.

Upon getting out of the car, I saw a few people standing at the entrance, and I felt all eyes on me, which made me feel weird.

And at the front stood Luna Morgana of the Nightshade Pack.

The woman had a big smile on her face the moment she saw me, and I smiled back.

Her deep violet cape fluttered behind her as she walked toward the car, her hands already extended.

“There she is,” she breathed with relief, as if she’d been holding her lungs until the door opened. “My sweet girl. Welcome home.”

Home? When I heard that, I was surprised. Theo’s aunt was treating me better than Cara ever did, and it warmed my heart.

Before I could process it, Morgana cupped my cheeks gently and pulled me into a soft, motherly hug.

I stiffened for a second, taken by surprise. She hugged me tightly. Luna Morgana seemed to mean every second of it.

“My dear Kaia, look at you.” She held me out at arm’s length, eyes shimmering with worry and affection. “You’ve lost weight. Theo said you’d been under stress, but he failed to mention just how much.”

“I’m… okay,” I managed, though my voice betrayed me completely.

Morgana clicked her tongue softly.

“No, you are not. But that’s alright.”

She swept an arm around my shoulders and pulled me close again.

“Because you’re with me now. And I’ll make sure you remain safe and pampered until that stubborn Alpha of ours fixes everything.”

Her tone was gentle, but the seriousness underneath it was unmistakable.

I heard that this woman once fought off a rogue ambush while eight months pregnant, and she killed so many of them to protect her pack.

Chapter 192

Behind her, Alpha Mathew, her tall and broad-shouldered mate, stepped forward and gave a very respectful nod at me.

“Welcome, Luna Kaia,” he said, using the title deliberately, respectfully. “It’s an honour to have you visit us again.”

A powerful man like him treating me with respect made my toes curl with embarrassment.

I blushed slightly. “Please… just Kaia is fine.”

“No,” Morgana corrected with a playful glare, “it is not fine. You are Theo’s mate. That makes you our Luna. And until my nephew comes to retrieve you, you are under Nightshade’s protection.”

She tightened her arm around me and started guiding me toward the house.

“Come. Let me get you inside before this wind touches you. It’s too harsh, and you’ve been through enough.”

As we walked, Nightshade warriors subtly shifted.

River noticed, and I nodded with approval.

“Your bodyguard can come inside as well,” Alpha Mathew offered. “The omegas will get his room ready”

“Are you sure that’s not too much trouble?” I asked, afraid I was inconveniencing them.

“Of course not,” Luna Morgana waved her hand. “It’s alright. After all, he’s here to protect you. So, he should stay close”

I beamed, grateful for her understanding.

“Thank you,” River told them.

“That’s nothing,” Alpha Mathew replied.

Morgana glanced at me again, studying my face closely, as if using some Luna intuition to read all the things I wasn’t saying.

“You look like you haven’t slept,” she murmured.

I swallowed and nodded.

“Yes,” I muttered. “Layely, I’ve been having trouble sleeping….I had nightmares”

Her eyes darkened, thoughtful.

“What kind of a dream?” she asked, her voice laced with concern,

I didn’t answer.

Her hand found mine and squeezed gently. She understood that I was struggling to say whatever was in my nightmares, and she was assuring me that she wouldn’t force me.

“We’ll talk when you’re settled,” she said softly. “Right now, you look exhausted and need rest.”

Only then did I realise I had been yawning unknowingly, and she noticed it.

We walked into the house as Luna Morgana led the way.

The Alpha had left with his men, leaving just the two of River and us walking behind him.

“Come, my dear. Theo entrusted you to me. Let me take care of you.” She went in and beckoned to me.

I walked in. It was still as it was when Theo and I visited a few weeks back.

Chapter 192

She led me to the living area and ordered the omegas to make lunch for us.

While we waited, some omegas came to serve us tea and snacks.

I was too hungry and bit into my cake immediately after the luna invited me to eat.

It was delicious, and I devoured it in no time.

“You’re safe here, Kaia,” she said to me after I finished my snacks.

I nodded, grateful that she was trying to ease my stress.

After thirty minutes, we sat for lunch.

It was an entire spread, and my mouth watered at the sight of the food laid out on the table.

“Luna, isn’t this a little too much?” I asked, looking at the spread.

“Oh no, my darling,” she patted my hand. “It’s not much. You are pregnant and eating for two, so you should eat a lot.”

I smiled, nodding while I dug in.

“Unfortunately, children are out for work,” Luna Morgana said, “They are not here to welcome you”

“No, that’s alright”, I said, wiping my mouth. “I can see them later”

I ate a lot, and finally, lunch was done, and I was full.

“Do you need anything else?” Luna Morgana asked.

And I looked at her with shock. What else could I want after eating an entire spread?

“No, Luna,” I mouthed. “I’m okay, thank you for your concern and for the food”

“That’s nothing,” she smiled at me. “Besides being Theo’s mate, you’re like a daughter to me now, and I’ll treat you like I would treat my own daughter”

My breath caught. I wasn’t expecting that, and I was pleasantly surprised.

“Come,” Luna Morgan pushed her chair aside and stood up. “I will show you around while your meal settles down. You shouldn’t sleep immediately after eating, especially when you’re pregnant”

I nodded, and I stood up as well.

Morgana had barely finished showing me the guest wing, my room, the little reading corner, and the balcony overlooking Nightshade’s silver-lit forest-when my phone buzzed.

“Luna, if you’ll excuse me,” I asked, looking at my phone.

“Sure! Sure, go ahead,” She urged. Then, she left.

I sat on my bed, letting myself lose, and I answered immediately.

“Hey,” I breathed.

Theo exhaled, full of relief and exhaustion at once.

“Kaia… thank the Moon. You made it safely?”

“Yes,” I muttered. “I landed a few hours ago, and everything’s fine.”

It wasn’t entirely true, but I didn’t want to tell him what I felt I’d seen on the plane.

Moreover, a member of the terror attack couldn’t work a jet, I was travelling on.

My pulse skipped. I prayed he wouldn’t notice.

“How are you?” I asked.

“Better now that I’m hearing your voice,” he muttered, and I could picture him rubbing the back of his neck the way he always did when he was stressed. “Did Auntie Morgana meet you? Did they give you the escorts I arranged? Was the jet secure?”

Secure? That word hit a nerve, and a chill ran up my arms.

I forced my voice to steady.

“Yes. Everything was perfect. Luna Morgana practically smothered me with love.”

He chuckled softly. “That sounds like her.”

“Kaia… you sound off. Did something happen?”.

My breath hitched. For a second, the image flashed back.

I could swear I saw that skull crest tattooed on the attendant’s hand, but it was gone when I looked again, and that bothered

I swallowed the fear burning up my throat.

“No, nothing happened,” I lied again, softer this time. “I’m just tired. It was a long day.”

Theo didn’t respond immediately.
