Draven looked like he was suffocating. He opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, my phone rang.
I frowned and glanced at the screen.
Alpha Mathew.
He wouldn’t call after I spoke to Auntie Morgana a while back.
Unless it was an urgent Something.
“Hello Alpha,” I answered immediately.
My voice came out frantic and curious.
“Theo,” he hesitated, and I could feel something was wrong.
“What is it, Alpha?” I asked.
Draven stiffened at my tone.
On the other end, I could hear murmuring, and Auntie Morgana took over.
“What happened, godmother?” I demanded.
She hesitated.
“I don’t know how to tell you this, but I’m afraid -” she couldn’t say it, and I was growing impatient.
“Please tell me what happened. Is Kaia okay?”
“Im afraid Kaia’s missing, Theo.” She dropped the bombshell, and I froze.
My blood turned cold, and I hopped to my feet.
“What do you mean she’s missing?”
“She never arrived for breakfast,” she said. “When I looked in her room, she was nowhere to be found. We’ve searched the whole pack, and she’s not here. The guards didnt see anyone leave. I dont know where Kaia has gone”
My breath hitched.
“Keep looking, she might be somewhere in the pack. She possibly can’t go anywhere without being seen”
“We’ve looked everywhere, and I have men searching the forest as we speak, but still nothing”
The room spun around me, and I felt dizzy.

Chapter 198
Draven whispered, horrified, “No, Kaia?”
1 stared at nothing. My pulse roared.
My hand tightened around the phone until it almost cracked.
I felt something snap inside me.
“Keep looking and seal the borders,” I said, “I’m coming back.”
When I hung up, Draven stood frozen, face pale with his eyes widened.
“Theo…” he whispered. “What happened?”
I turned to him, fury boiling up my spine like a wildfire.
“My mate,” I growled, “Had gone missing. While I was sitting here listening to your regrets.”
Draven swallowed hard.
His voice shook. “Tell me what I can do to help-”
“Nothing,” I snapped. “You’ve done enough.”
I stormed toward the door.
But before leaving, I paused.
Glanced back at him with a sharp look.
“If anything happens to Kaia, I will kill you”
Then I walked out.
Leaving Draven shattered in the silence.

The moment my car skidded to a halt in front of the Nightshade territory gates after a few hours’ flight, I didn’t wait for permission.
I shoved through before anyone could stop me.
I bolted straight through the entrance. Warriors scrambled out of my way. No one dared stop me.
My wolf was fully unleashed, and he was one breath away from bloodshed.
Kaia was gone, and I wasn’t there.
The thought alone made my chest tear open.
I stormed into the Nightshade courtyard.

Chapter 198
“What happened to Kaia? Where is she?” My roar crackled through the pack.
Alpha Mathew rushed toward me, stretching his hands toward me.
“Theo, listen-”
“Don’t tell me to listen!” I barked, shoving him aside as I kept looking around.
Auntie Morgana appeared next, her eyes were red from crying.
“Theo, we’re doing everything we—”
“You were supposed to protect her!” I snapped, anger rolling off of me.
Auntie Morgana lowered her head, shame washing over her for failing to protect Kaia.
“You promised she’d be safe here”
Morgana flinched, but she didn’t back away.

“I know I promised to protect Kaia, and I will forever regret that I didn’t look after her, we’ll”, she said, tears dripping down her face.
“I will do everything to bring Kaia back, I swear,” she said, and I felt bad for blaming her.
“This is not the time to blame each other,” Katya said, and we looked at her. “Kaia is missing, and we need to find her immediately”
Katya took charge, issued instructions to the guards, and sent them to look for her along the borders.
After finishing that up, she turned to me, and I looked distraught, for sure.
“There isn’t much we can do right”, Katya admired. “We need to wait for clues and probably a call from the kidnappers”
“How are we sure she was kidnapped?” Luna Morgana asked, crying.
“Avery found this at the entrance,” Katya said, pulling out one of the shoes.
It was Kaia’s, and I could tell at first glance that it was her favourite one.
“Kaia had been kidnapped, and she must have left her shoe behind while she was dragged away”
“This is all my fault,” I said, dragging a hand over my face. “I should have been there to look after her”
I sank onto the couch, and Auntie Morgana came to sit by my side, holding me.
“No, dear, don’t blame yourself,” she said, cupping my hand. “It’s my fault for not stationing a guard outside
her room”
Speaking of the guard, where is River?

“Where is Kaia’s personal security?” I asked, and they looked at me.
Just then, I saw River walk in and lower his head, feeling ashamed as he should.

“Your job was to protect the Luna,” I said calmly at first, then I hopped to my feet and grabbed his collar. “Where the hell wrre you when Kaia was taken from here?”
“I’m so sorry, Alpha” River fell on his knees and folded his hands. “I failed to protect the Luna. Please punish me for my stupidity”
I gritted and left his collar; my rage was choking me, and if I held on to him anymore, I would kill him.
“I asked a question,” I could say. “Where were you when the Luna disappeared?”
“I was with the Luna after she had dinner”, River said. “I watched her go into her room, and she urged me to go to bed. I wanted to stay outside her door, but she insisted I go to bed, so I did.
In the morning, when I went to check on her, she wasn’t in her room anymore”
“And where is your room?” I asked.
“His room is directly opposite Kaia’s room,” Katya replied. “Which means Kaia wasn’t taken from her room, otherwise the scuffle would have woken him up”
“Leave here, I don’t want to see you again until the Luna returns”, I ordered, and River scurried away.
“We will find her, I assure you,” Katya said, and I nodded, taking her word as truth.
I won’t let anything happen to you, Kaia. I will find you soon, I promise.
