“No, let me go. I don’t want to go with you,” I pulled away from the person holding me, and I was running
away.
I ran as fast as I could away from them. My small legs were too weak to carry me, and I felt my lungs drying up as I struggled to breathe.
I managed to flee from my captors and ran into the forest, but the forest was too big and swallowed me whole.
I lost my way, and I began to cry.
“Please!” I cried, my broken voice cracking. “Please don’t take me!”
I didn’t even know where I was going, but I kept running away, trying to hide from the men.
I just knew I had to get away. Heavy footsteps thundered behind me.
A hand grabbed my hair and pulled me out.
I screamed as my body snapped backwards, pain exploding across my scalp.
“No! Let me go! Please! I’ll be good-I’ll be quietI-”
“Still screaming, huh?” a voice muttered above me. He was annoyed and had a killer look. I shuddered.
His voice sounded familiar in a way that made my stomach twist.
“Stubborn little thing.” He screamed, still pulling my hair. “I’m going to shut you up. You annoying little twit”
My vision blurred with tears as I twisted, trying to see his face, trying to see the monster who took me.
And this time, I did.
It wasn’t blurry like the last time I saw his face.
He had a scar cutting across his brow with cold, empty eyes.
A cruel smile that made me shudder in fear.
Silas.
“You are really not going to shut up, are you?” He asked, rough-handling me, and I couldn’t stop crying.
Just then, another man caught up with us, breathing heavily after running around in search of me.
“This pup is going to be a little problematic for us to deal with,” he said, and Silas agreed.

“She’s very powerful, too,” Silas said, looking down at us. “We have to do something about her”
“I suggest we bind her with a silver potion,” the man said, pulling out a vial. “It’s better this way”

Silas held me down, and the man forced the potion down my throat, and when he was done, I was losing grip on myself, and everything else felt unfamiliar.
Suddenly, I began to cough, choking on the potion.
“Please bring my mommy here,” I said, tugging at Silas’ hand. “I want to go home”
Silas knelt in front of me, smirking as he pinched my cheek.
“You are never seeing your mommy again,” he said, grinning. “Get used to your new life, little puppy”
I woke up screaming.
My body jerked violently as I sat upright, breath tearing out of me in ragged gasps.
My entire body trembled uncontrollably, sweat soaking my skin, and my hair sticking to my face.
I wiped my face with the back of my hand.
“No…” I whispered hoarsely. “That’s not true. It was just a bad dream”
My hands flew to my head, fingers digging into my scalp as if I could erase the memory.
But it wouldn’t go away, probably because it wasn’t a dream.
It was real, Silas took me all those years ago.
A violent shiver wracked me. My teeth chattered, and my limbs felt weak and heavy at the same time.
I was burning. My skin felt like it was on fire, yet I couldn’t stop shaking.
“Goddess…” I breathed, curling into myself, wrapping my arms around my stomach instinctively. “What is happening to me…?”
The door swung open, and my entire body went still.
Slowly, I lifted my head. And there he was.
Silas was leaning against the doorway, watching me intently like a hawk.
That same face from my nightmare was real, and he was standing in front of me now.
I retreated subconsciously, fear gripping me.
His eyes flickered over me-taking in my trembling body, my sweat-drenched skin, the fear I couldn’t hide.
Then his lips curled slightly.

“Well,” he said, almost impressed. “Looks like you finally remembered something”
My heart dropped into my stomach.
I couldn’t speak or breathe properly; all I could do was stare at him.
The man who kidnapped me as a child had come back to finish what he started.
Silas stepped fully into the room, shutting the door behind him.
My breath caught watching him.
He walked toward me slowly. His boots scrape against the concrete floor, each step deliberate.

He looked as if he was doing it deliberately to scare me even more, and I hated that my fear was laid out in front of him.
And he could tell at a glance that I was scared of him.
“You’ve grown,” he said quietly. “I didn’t think you’d remember me so quickly. But then-trauma has a way of clawing itself back to the surface.”
I pressed my back against the wall.
“Don’t come near me,” I said, retreating.
He smirked. “You said the same thing back then.”
My stomach lurched.
Silas crouched in front of me and lifted a strand of my hair, letting it slide across his fingers.
“You didn’t just get lost in those woods,” he murmured. “I put you there.”
My breath stopped.
“You…” I forced out. “You dumped me? In the forest? Alone?”
He tilted his head, expression almost bored. “Orders are orders. The master didn’t want you alive. And you, little Kaia -you wouldn’t stop crying for your mother. So annoying.” His lip curled. “I thought the wolves would take care of you.”
An icy chill crawled up my spine.
“You wanted me dead?” My mouth parted in shock.
“That was the point,” Silas said, lazily.
Something snapped inside me. A hot crack of pain shot through me, and my chest began pounding.
“You ruined my life!” I screamed, lunging at him. “You took everything away from me. Why? Why did you do

this to me?”
Silas didn’t expect it.
:.
I slammed into him with everything I had. My hands scratched and hit him painfully.
All the pain I was feeling poured out of me, and I hit him with everything.
My nails raked across his cheek, drawing blood.
He swore and grabbed my wrists, but I twisted, biting down on his hand so hard I tasted blood.
