Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 113

Gideon didn't argue. He stepped inside and crouched down in front of her, his eyes scanning her from head to toe. Only after confirming she wasn't hurt did his expression finally relax.

"You just left without a word," he said, his voice laced with helplessness and worry. "A full day and night. No phone, no tracker. Do you have any idea that I nearly tore Northport apart looking for you?"

Beatrice scoffed and turned her head away. "You think I don't know you have those bodyguards watching me? Staring at me twenty-four hours a day! I couldn't even step out into the yard. I was suffocating."

Gideon's throat bobbed, but he ultimately chose not to argue.

Standing by the door and watching this unfold, Seraphina finally pieced everything together.

So, this old lady was Gideon Cole's grandmother. That perpetually empty house at Building 7 in Laurel Heights was Cole property. And Gerald Cole was Gideon's father.

She suddenly realized just how small the world really was.

Gideon stood up and turned around, his gaze falling back onto Seraphina.

"You were the one who took my grandmother in," he said, his tone much gentler than usual. "Thank you."

Seraphina shook her head. "I just happened to run into her."

Gideon looked at her and didn't offer any more hollow pleasantries, but the usual layer of cold detachment in his eyes seemed to thin out a little.

Beatrice watched the exchange between the two. Her eyes shifted back and forth, and a slight smirk tugged at the corner of her lips, though she remained silent.

The police officers came in next, verified everyone's identities, and confirmed that the elderly woman was indeed Gideon's relative. After taking down a few notes, they packed up and left.

Before leaving, the young officer even gave Seraphina a thumbs-up.

The door closed, and the apartment grew quiet once more.

Gideon walked over to the couch, looking down at his grandmother. "Let's go home."

But Beatrice didn't budge.

"Your eyes..." she murmured. "They look just like someone I know."

Seraphina paused. "Like who?"

Beatrice didn't answer right away, her gaze lingering over Seraphina's features.

After a long moment, she let out a soft sigh. "Like my youngest daughter. It's not your face, but your eyes. The way you look at people is exactly the same."

Gideon, who had been standing to the side checking his schedule on his phone, paused mid-swipe.

He looked up, his eyes resting on Seraphina's face for a second.

He didn't say anything, but the usual icy barrier in his gaze melted into an imperceptible softness.

Feeling the weight of his stare, Seraphina felt a bit self-conscious and subtly averted her eyes.
