Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 124

Looking at the neatly stacked materials, Seraphina felt a sense of grounding she hadn't experienced in a long time.

Things were moving forward step by step.

Her leverage was increasing day by day.

She extended her hand to Nate. "A pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Lawson."

After finishing her work at Keystone, Seraphina walked out of the facility gates and headed toward the main road to hail a cab.

She hadn't even walked a few hundred feet when the sky suddenly darkened.

Massive, charcoal-gray clouds pressed down on the horizon, heavy and threatening, looking as though they might collapse at any second.

Before she could quicken her pace, the rain began to fall.

Seraphina hurried under the narrow awning of a nearby building, but the wind whipped the rain sideways, instantly soaking her sleeves.

The pedestrians and cars on the street vanished almost immediately.

She looked down, rummaging through her bag until her fingers brushed against a folding umbrella.

When she popped it open, she froze.

The canopy was printed with a cartoon illustration of a family of three.

She had custom-ordered it a long time ago, specifically to use when picking her daughter up from school.

Back then, she thought having their little family of three perfectly printed on an umbrella was the sweetest thing in the world.

Looking at it now, it just felt like a cruel joke.

She held the umbrella high, refusing to look at the pattern, mentally noting that she needed to buy a new one as soon as she got home.

The rain showed no signs of stopping.

A harsh gust of wind slipped down her collar, making her shiver. She suddenly remembered shoving a spare jacket into her bag before leaving the house.

She pulled it out, shook out the wrinkles, and draped it over her shoulders.

The fabric was old—one of her pieces from years ago.

During all her years at the Lockwood Estate, she had barely bought any new clothes.

The windows were rolled up tight, the interior silent.

The passengers inside all wore exceptionally dark expressions.

Madeline broke the silence.

"This Keystone company is completely out of line. We waited in the pouring rain for God knows how long, said every polite thing in the book, and what happened? We didn't even get to see the manager! They sent some low-level assistant to brush us off, claiming they had already signed with someone else."

"They were just stringing us along! I refuse to swallow this insult, Dominic. Keystone might have a decent reputation, but they are nothing compared to The Lockwood Group. If they have the nerve to be this arrogant, we have to teach them a lesson. Otherwise, everyone will think they can walk all over us."

Dominic sat on the opposite side, his brow heavily furrowed.

Cynthia sat next to him, remaining perfectly quiet.

She had been staring down at her phone the entire time.

Her fingers tapped rapidly across the screen, a deep frown etched onto her face.

After a few moments, Cynthia stared at a newly received photo, then silently passed her phone to Madeline.

"Madeline, look at this."
