Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 126

She took a deep breath, ruthlessly suppressing the fury threatening to boil over, and said, "I'll return it to you when I get back."

"Give it to me now," Dominic demanded, his voice colder than the storm.

Seraphina's grip on the handle tightened painfully.

Looking into his merciless eyes, she knew he wasn't bluffing. If she didn't hand it over, he would force the issue.

She bent down, placed the umbrella gently on the wet pavement, then straightened up. Shoving her hands into her jacket pockets, she turned her head away, refusing to look at him.

The rain instantly battered her hair and shoulders, cold streams of water sliding down the back of her neck.

She raised an arm over her forehead and turned sideways to block the worst of the deluge, but the wind whipped the rain from every direction. Within seconds, she was completely soaked.

Dominic stared down at the abandoned umbrella.

He didn't pick it up.

Instead, his gaze dragged up to the jacket draped over her shoulders.

When he spoke again, his tone was even more glacial. "Give me the jacket, too."

Seraphina snapped her head back toward him, unable to suppress her blazing anger. "This is my jacket! Why the hell should I?"

It was one thing for him to claim the umbrella was paid for with Lockwood money since she had ordered it while living with him. But this jacket had been hers long before she ever married him. By what twisted logic did it suddenly belong to him?

Dominic's eyes remained dead and hollow.

His lips parted. "It isn't yours. It's Cynthia's."

Seraphina froze.

"Her name is stitched into the inner pocket," Dominic's words struck her like shattered ice. "I kept it for six years. Who gave you the nerve to wear it?"

The rain crashed down around her in a deafening roar.

It took Seraphina several agonizing seconds to process what he had just said.

She looked down at the soaked fabric clinging to her body.

Hesitating for just a moment, she reached inside and pulled at the inner seam.

There, meticulously embroidered in delicate thread, was a name.

Cynthia Ross.

The fabric was dripping wet and splattered with mud, but he didn't show a hint of revulsion, clutching it protectively against his chest.

Then he glanced at the umbrella on the ground. He snatched it up and effortlessly tossed it into a nearby trash can.

Without the jacket, the biting wind slammed into Seraphina, chilling her so deeply her teeth began to chatter.

She clenched her fists.

He would rather throw the umbrella in the garbage than let her use it.

He was a monster.

She must have been completely blind to have waited this long to demand a divorce.

Dominic pressed his lips into a thin line and turned on his heel, walking back toward his luxury SUV.

But before he could take more than a few steps, a low, powerful engine purr echoed from the intersection.

A sleek, black luxury sedan slid into view. Its immaculate lines radiated wealth, the prestigious hood ornament gleaming even in the dismal gray light.

As it cruised past Dominic's vehicle, it made the Lockwood SUV look like absolute garbage in comparison.
