Seraphina glanced at the card and shook her head. "Grandma, I can't take it. You've already given me so much; I really can't accept anything else."
The old lady nudged the card closer. "This isn't mine. It's Dominic's card."
Although the card Dominic had given the old lady wasn't strictly limitless, it still held hundreds of millions of dollars.
Seraphina's fingers paused. Her brows furrowed slightly, but she still shook her head. "Grandma, I really can't take this."
The old lady spoke with profound earnestness. "Seraphina, you are his wife. It's perfectly natural for a wife to spend her husband's money. Why shouldn't you use it? Just take it. Buy whatever you want, and don't deprive yourself."
Seraphina fell silent for a moment.
His wife. Perfectly natural to spend her husband's money.
She remembered the scene in the rain at the East End yesterday, where Dominic had coldly forced her to return the umbrella and his jacket. He had snatched away a mere umbrella, yet now his black card was resting in her hands.
She let out a cold, internal scoff. Dominic never let her use anything of his.
"Grandma, I really don't need it," she said, her tone completely steady.
The old lady remained silent for a few seconds before letting out a sigh.
"How about this, then. A new rough gemstone exhibition just opened on the fifth floor of this mall. I want to buy a high-quality piece of rough jadeite to have a bracelet made. Go pick one out for me. If you see a good one, buy it. Don't worry about the price."
Seraphina looked at the old lady. Her gaze was completely open, though there was a hint of coaxing in her eyes.
Reaching out, Seraphina finally accepted the card. "Alright. I'll pick out a good one for you."
The old lady smiled in relief. She settled into her seat in the tearoom, claiming she was too tired from walking and wanted to take a nap, telling Seraphina to go upstairs and pick it out herself.
After making sure the old lady was comfortable and giving the two maids a few instructions, Seraphina turned, left the tearoom, and headed up to the fifth floor.
The rough gemstone exhibition on the fifth floor was larger than she had expected.
She had a pretty good idea of their worth.
"Boss, how much for these?"
The owner, seemingly surprised that anyone was interested in the scraps, casually threw out a number. "If you want them, you can have the whole lot. Just give me a thousand dollars."
Seraphina's eyes darted thoughtfully. "Eight hundred."
The owner frowned slightly but didn't argue. "Eight hundred it is."
He pulled out a payment QR code. Seraphina scanned it with her phone and transferred the money.
The owner helped her pack the pieces into a cloth bag. Standing up with the bag in hand, her lips curved into a smile—this trip was already worth it.
Though the scraps looked unimpressive, a few of them would undoubtedly reveal excellent clarity once cut. They were more than enough to craft small pieces of jewelry, making the eight-hundred-dollar purchase an absolute steal.
