Dominic froze for a second.
His brow furrowed, as if a realization had just struck him.
"What do you mean? You bought that rough stone for Grandma?"
Seraphina met his gaze evenly. "Who else would I buy it for? Grandma said she wanted the material for a bracelet."
Dominic's face shifted.
A chilling frost gathered in his eyes.
"Seraphina, you did that on purpose. You deliberately goaded me into a bidding war, making me spend a fortune."
Seraphina felt perfectly justified.
"Mr. Lockwood, I told you from the very beginning that you didn't have to follow my bids."
Dominic's pupils constricted further.
"You could have told me the truth earlier, but you said absolutely nothing. You played me."
"Would you have even listened to me?" Seraphina shot back defiantly.
That only infuriated Dominic more. He lunged forward, grabbing her wrist and yanking her hard.
Caught off guard, Seraphina stumbled, her body pitching sideways until her elbow slammed violently into a nearby metal equipment rack.
The metal rack crashed to the floor with a deafening clatter, its contents spilling everywhere.
Pain flared through her elbow, making her gasp sharply.
"Dominic—" she started.
A deep, commanding voice echoed from the end of the corridor.
"What exactly are you trying to pull on my turf?" The voice carried an oppressive, undeniable authority.
Dominic's actions ground to a halt.
He turned his head and saw Gideon Cole walking slowly down the hallway, with Myles flanking him.
Right, this mall was a property of The Cole Group.
Dominic instinctively let go of her wrist.
"Uncle..."
"Don't try to pull rank with me." Gideon stopped directly in front of him, his tone flat. "Mr. Lockwood, you damaged company property. You will pay for it in full."
Dominic's face twisted into an incredibly ugly expression.
He opened his mouth to argue, but Gideon had already turned his head to address Myles. "Escort Mr. Lockwood to the management office to process the compensation paperwork."
Myles stepped forward. "Mr. Lockwood, this way please."
Once finished, she capped the tube and offered it back.
Gideon took it and casually dropped it into his pocket.
"So, this was the urgent business you had to attend to."
Seraphina blinked, then let out a helpless smile.
So, Mr. Cole had witnessed the entire debacle just now?
Gideon's expression remained neutral. "I had originally planned to invite you to Laurel Heights today to cook a meal for my grandmother. But with your hand injured, I suppose you won't be able to make it."
Seraphina glanced down at her wrist.
It was just a red mark, and the ointment had already taken the edge off the pain.
She looked back up. "It's nothing serious. I can go right now."
Gideon studied her. "Are you sure?"
Seraphina nodded. "Besides, I made a small fortune off you today. To show my gratitude, I should cook a few extra meals for your grandmother."
She offered a small smile as she spoke.
The faint layer of coldness in Gideon's eyes seemed to melt just a fraction.
