His brow furrowed as he looked at Yvette.
Yvette withered under his scrutiny, guilt flashing in her eyes. "Dominic, it wasn't me. She bumped into me..."
"Shut up," Seraphina snapped, her tone glacial. "There's a security camera right above us. Want me to pull the footage?"
Yvette's face went pale, and she shrank further behind Dominic's broad frame.
Dominic looked back at Seraphina, his voice lower than before but still laced with an undeniable edge of authority. "Even if she was in the wrong, that doesn't give you the right to throw drinks and shove her around. Couldn't you just use your words?"
Seraphina scoffed. "Do you actually think she listens when people talk?"
Yvette poked half her body out from behind Dominic. "Who the hell do you think you are, Seraphina? Why should I listen to you?"
Seraphina's knuckles turned white as she clenched her fists.
Yvette ducked her head in terror, darting right back behind her brother's back. "Dominic, look at her! She wants to hit me!"
Dominic stepped squarely in front of Yvette, the icy fury gathering in his eyes once more.
"I've let you get away with too much, Seraphina. You dare to target the Lockwood family time and time again?"
"Don't forget, crushing you would be as easy as crushing an ant."
It was as if all the oxygen had been sucked out of the hallway.
Jenna was trembling from head to toe, her fingers clutching desperately at Seraphina's shirt. Her lips parted, but no sound came out.
Feeling the terrified trembling through her clothes, Seraphina's heart tightened.
Logic told her not to push Dominic any further.
"And let's pretend for a moment I didn't even know her," Seraphina continued. "If I were just a bystander, I still couldn't have just stood by and watched. And because I stepped in to stop it, I'm the one being threatened by you?"
"What, does the Lockwood family just own all of Northport now?"
A crowd had already gathered to watch the drama unfold. Now, hearing Seraphina's impassioned words, they couldn't hold back anymore.
A man stepped forward from the crowd. "We can't just ignore this. My wife is pregnant, too. If she were out walking and someone did this to her without anyone stepping in... I don't even want to think about what could happen."
He looked at Seraphina. "Miss, you did nothing wrong. You were brave, and you were the first to step up. We can't let good Samaritans take the fall for this."
Murmurs of agreement rippled through the crowd. "Exactly! We all have sisters and wives! If monsters like this are just allowed to roam free, where is the justice? We need an explanation!"
More and more people pressed in closer, causing Yvette to cower in terror behind Dominic.
