Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 156

"Five thousand dollars. For medical bills."

Seraphina took the check and immediately handed it to Jenna. "Take this."

Jenna's lips parted as she clutched the check. "Thank you, Ms. Sinclair. Thank you, Mr. Lockwood."

Seraphina turned her focus back to Dominic.

Dominic's brow was furrowed deeply. Refusing to look at her, he glanced at Yvette and barked, "Apologize."

Yvette's eyes grew red. "Dominic, why should I?"

"I said, apologize," he repeated, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Gritting her teeth, Yvette reluctantly turned toward Jenna and mumbled, "I'm... I'm sorry."

Jenna lowered her head. "It's... it's fine."

Seraphina exhaled a long breath and gently held Jenna's arm. "Let's go."

But just as they turned around.

Dominic's cold, heavy voice echoed behind them. "Seraphina, aren't you forgetting something?"

Seraphina stopped and looked back.

Dominic tilted his chin up slightly. "Yvette bumped into her, not you. Yet you threw a drink in my sister's face. Shouldn't you apologize?"

Seraphina simply said, "Oh."

She turned back around to face Yvette and gave a crisp, shallow nod. "I'm sorry."

It was clean and straightforward.

It was just an apology; she had zero problem giving one. She knew how to pick her battles.

Besides, she had already taught Yvette a lesson, and if saying a few words ended this ordeal, why not?

Dominic paused, a flash of surprise crossing his eyes.

He hadn't expected Seraphina to apologize without a single word of argument.

Seraphina straightened up and locked eyes with Yvette.

Yvette had been wearing a smug, triumphant look, fully prepared to revel in Seraphina's submission.

But the moment their eyes met, the smirk froze on Yvette's face.

Seraphina gave a soft laugh.

"Does your hand still hurt? Let me go to the hospital with you to get it checked out."

Jenna pointed toward the street ahead. "It's okay, my friend is already here waiting for me at the intersection. She's actually a nurse, so she can take me. You go ahead and get back to work, Ms. Sinclair. Don't worry about me."

Seraphina followed her gaze. Sure enough, there was a white sedan parked at the corner. The window rolled down, and a young woman waved at them.

Seeing that, Seraphina finally relaxed.

"Alright, go on then."

Jenna nodded. "Ms. Sinclair, let me buy you a meal sometime."

Seraphina smiled. "After you have the baby, it's my treat."

Jenna beamed. "It's a deal, then."

She turned and headed toward the white sedan.

Seraphina watched her get in safely before turning around and heading back to work.
