After finishing her meal, Beatrice refused to let go of Seraphina's hand, insisting she stay a while longer as they chatted about everything under the sun.
Gideon sat on a nearby sofa reading the news, his posture relaxed. He occasionally glanced their way, his usually cold expression surprisingly gentle.
The old lady was full of energy and talked endlessly. It wasn't until she paused for a sip of tea that she noticed the bag Seraphina had brought.
"What do you have there, Seraphina? Looks like clothing."
"Yes, it's a suit for someone," Seraphina explained. "It still needs some alterations, though. The waist and shoulders need to be taken in a bit, so I'm bringing it back to adjust it."
Beatrice's eyes lit up, and she instinctively shot a sideways glance toward Gideon.
Gideon's fingers paused. He briefly looked over the edge of his paper before smoothly averting his gaze.
Beatrice looked back, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "You know how to tailor clothes, Seraphina?"
Seraphina nodded. "A little. I studied it a while ago."
Beatrice looked utterly delighted. "You can do everything! Any man who marries you would be incredibly lucky."
Seraphina's ears grew warm, but she just smiled and stayed quiet.
Seeing how late it was getting, Seraphina stood up to say her goodbyes.
Beatrice looked reluctant to see her go but waved her hand anyway. "Alright, alright. Drive safe."
She turned to Gideon. "Walk Seraphina out, Gideon."
Gideon set down his paper, stood up, and grabbed the empty food containers and the garment bag. "Let's go."
"Sorry for the trouble, Gideon," Seraphina said.
"It's no trouble."
The two of them left the living room and headed downstairs, where the Cole family driver was already waiting outside.
Gideon handed the items back to her.
Seraphina took them. "This is far enough, Gideon."
Gideon murmured an acknowledgment, standing on the steps to watch her get in.
As Seraphina settled into the car and the door shut, a small card fluttered to the ground.
Beatrice chuckled.
"You're leaving right after she does. I was wondering why you've been visiting every single day lately. I thought you were here to see this old woman, but you were just coming to see her."
Gideon smirked, a faint flush creeping up the tips of his ears.
"Stop teasing me, Beatrice."
Beatrice waved him off, her laughter deepening the wrinkles around her eyes.
"Alright, alright, get out of here. Drive safe."
Gideon buttoned his jacket, opened the door, and stepped out, the faint smile never leaving his face.
The day of The Cole Group Business Gala arrived in a flash.
The event was packed with business titans and socialites, making for a grand and bustling atmosphere.
A sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled up to the entrance. The door opened, and Dominic Lockwood stepped out first.
