As Seraphina stepped closer and closer,
he casually straightened his posture.
But Seraphina walked right past him.
She didn't slow down, and her gaze never once drifted in his direction.
She completely ignored his existence, striding by as if he were entirely invisible.
Dominic's pupils contracted violently. He whipped his head around, glaring at her retreating figure.
The cascading layers of The Starry Feast shimmered brilliantly under the lights.
Dominic tightly clenched his fists.
Turning back to Cynthia, his brow slightly relaxed.
Of course. Seraphina hadn't approached him simply because Cynthia was standing right there.
Unaware of the massive ego trip happening behind her, Seraphina remained entirely focused.
Gripping the garment bag, she scanned the crowd for Zachary.
After days of frantic work, she had finally finished the alterations last night, ensuring the suit would highlight his build perfectly.
She needed him to change into it before he made his grand entrance.
But she couldn't spot him anywhere.
She asked a few attendees, but no one had seen him.
She called his phone, but it went straight to voicemail.
Frowning, she kept walking.
Passing through an archway and rounding a corner, she found herself in a quieter side lounge.
A young woman in her early twenties approached. With her hair in a high ponytail and a chic white dress, she had bright, lively features.
The moment the girl saw Seraphina, she froze in her tracks.
Her eyes widened with excitement, and she hurried right up to her.
"You're the rising science star from the news, right? I'm a huge fan!"
Seraphina stopped and looked at her.
The girl's cheeks flushed with thrill. "I heard you graduated from Capital University. So did I! The professors actually used your thesis as a case study for us, Seraphina."
A smooth, melodic male voice broke her concentration.
Vivian turned and saw Tristan approaching.
"Tristan! I just met my idol!" Vivian squealed, pointing at Seraphina's disappearing figure.
Tristan's gaze locked onto the distance.
"Seraphina Sinclair?"
"You know her?" Vivian's eyes lit up. "Are you guys close? You should totally go after her! I love her so much. She's gorgeous and a total genius. I would kill to have her in the family!"
Tristan sucked in a sharp breath and tapped his sister's nose.
"Stop trying to play matchmaker. She's married."
As Dominic's childhood best friend, Tristan had spent plenty of time at the Lockwood estate, where he had met Seraphina.
Vivian slumped in disappointment. "Aw, man... I didn't even know she tied the knot."
"Years ago," Tristan said, handing her a flute of champagne. "Come on, let's get you something to eat."
Vivian pouted, taking the glass and trailing behind him.
