Taking in the scene, Seraphina instantly understood everything.
This was a calculated hit meant to utterly annihilate her brother's reputation.
Nadia had gotten married two years ago. If Zachary was caught sleeping with her today, he would be publicly branded as a homewrecker.
And doing it at The Cole Group Gala would be a direct slap in the face to Cole's.
Cole's would immediately terminate their partnership, and no other company would ever touch him again. Sinclair Microtech would be completely ruined.
Desperate to stay conscious, Zachary had plunged a broken pair of gardening shears deep into his left index finger. The wound was severe, blood streaming steadily down his knuckles.
He squinted against the sudden glare of the doorway.
His eyes were horrifyingly bloodshot, his pupils blown wide and swimming in a delirious haze.
It wasn't until he recognized the silhouette that a sliver of clarity broke through his stupor.
"Seraphina..."
His lips trembled as two streams of tears spilled down his cheeks.
"I'm right here," Seraphina said, closing the distance in two fierce steps and kicking Nadia squarely in the ribs.
Nadia tumbled sideways, slamming hard against a wooden planter, the impact jolting her into a state of semi-lucidity.
"What the hell—" she started to shriek, but the moment she looked up and saw Seraphina, her curse died in her throat, and she collapsed heavily onto the nearby potting bench.
Seraphina stripped off her jacket and wrapped it tightly around Zachary.
"Tristan, give me a hand," she ordered. Tristan hesitated for a fraction of a second before stepping in. Together, they hoisted Zachary up by his shoulders.
Zachary's body was burning up. His legs buckled entirely, forcing almost his entire weight onto Seraphina.
"I've got you guys, Seraphina," Vivian said, rushing forward to hold the low-hanging vines out of their path.
Seraphina dragged her brother out of the greenhouse, steering them toward an even more isolated area of the estate.
The venue was massive and crawling with guests. The main hall was completely out of the question, and the standard VIP lounges were too risky. She needed a fully enclosed, private room where they wouldn't be disturbed.
Vivian nodded fiercely. "I won't let him out of my sight." Seraphina tore out of the room, throwing one last warning glance at Tristan before disappearing.
Ashamed by her glare, Tristan instinctively looked away. He crouched down, keeping vigil by Zachary's side.
Seraphina took a deep, steadying breath and made a beeline for the pharmacy.
Luckily, she had spotted a high-end drugstore right outside the venue when she first arrived.
She quickly bought the necessary neutralizing agents and rushed back. Pushing the door open, she found Zachary still curled on the couch, his blood-soaked fist clenched tight.
Seraphina poured a glass of warm water from a pitcher on the table, dumped the powder in, and forced it down Zachary's throat.
Within minutes, his white-knuckled grip on the armrest began to loosen. His ragged breathing steadied. Though he was still sweating profusely, the terrifying full-body convulsions finally stopped.
Vivian watched the entire process, her eyes shining with pure worship. "You even know how to do that. You are seriously incredible, Seraphina."
Tristan grabbed his sister's arm and addressed Seraphina. "Since he's stable now, we're going to head out."
Vivian whined in protest, but Tristan firmly dragged her out of the room.
