Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 225

Zachary didn't waste a second, charging inside with his men. Gideon's operatives had already engaged Drake's crew, the sound of gunfire and heavy footsteps echoing through the industrial yard.

Refusing to be left behind, Seraphina clenched her fists and sprinted after them.

Moments later, Arthur and Owen were escorted out by Gideon's men.

Seraphina followed closely behind.

"It's over, Dad. We're safe."

Arthur nodded, then shook his head, too overwhelmed to speak.

Zachary returned shortly after, reporting that Drake's men had fled through the back entrance. They had missed them.

But everyone was safe, and that was all that mattered.

Seraphina turned to Gideon.

"Mr. Cole," she walked over. "Thank you."

She had so much more to say, but words felt inadequate in the face of what he had done.

Gideon's expression remained calm. "I was in the area for a business deal. I heard you were around, so I stopped by."

He brushed it off effortlessly.

Seraphina nodded.

Standing nearby, Myles clamped his mouth shut.

In the area?

Sure, he had business, but the second he heard she was missing, he deployed every resource available to tear the city apart. When they finally tracked her to this remote industrial zone, he had rushed over in the middle of the night. Calling it a coincidence was the understatement of the century.

Myles sighed internally.

Seraphina didn't linger. Worried about the toll the last few days had taken on her aging father, she just wanted to get him home.

She helped Arthur into the car and bid Gideon farewell.

As they drove away, she glanced back to see Gideon still standing there, watching them leave.

She sank into the seat, feeling completely drained of energy.

Arthur sat quietly beside her.

Rooting out a heavily armed warlord in Northport overnight and subduing him without a fight wasn't something just anyone could pull off. Gideon was the only man with that kind of power.

She didn't think they were particularly close, but as his employee, she had to admit—he went above and beyond to protect his own.

She had a hot meal with her family, chatted with Arthur to make sure he was doing well, and finally headed back to her own apartment.

As her door clicked shut, the world fell quiet.

Pouring herself a glass of water, she sat on the couch and replayed the events of the past few days.

Drake's arrest was a victory.

But Charles Ross had vanished completely from the narrative.

His name wasn't mentioned in a single police report or news bulletin. He had washed his hands of the entire affair.

What made her chest tighten even more was another headline.

The Lockwood Group had donated over a hundred million dollars to the Institute in Charles's name.

The press release praised him as a "respected pioneer" and a "pillar of Northport's scientific community."
