She comforted her father for a while, and since it was getting late, they retired for the night.
The next morning, Seraphina received a call from Tristan Spencer.
Tristan got straight to the point, offering Arthur the position of Chief Technical Advisor for Spencer Enterprises' new applied sciences project, with excellent compensation and an immediate start date.
Seraphina gripped her phone in silence.
She knew Tristan meant well and was trying to help her.
And if her father joined Spencer Enterprises, he would undoubtedly be well protected.
But she politely declined anyway.
Instead, she took her father directly to The Cole Technology Park.
She had learned at Tristan's birthday banquet that The Cole Group was also developing an applied sciences project, and she intended to have her father partner with them.
She had the funds, and she was going to open an independent research lab for her father, allowing him to lead his own projects with his own technology.
That way, he would never again have to worry about being marginalized or framed by corporate politics.
Given Arthur's expertise, Seraphina was confident The Cole Group would consider the partnership. Once they had Gideon Cole's backing, even someone like Dominic Lockwood would have to think twice before trying to cross her father again.
On the way, she briefly explained her plan to him.
Arthur was highly apprehensive. "Seraphina, they're a massive corporation. Would they even look twice at someone like me..."
"Dad, trust me."
Looking at his daughter's unwavering gaze, Arthur nodded.
In the conference room, Gideon Cole received them personally.
After reviewing Arthur's resume, he immediately agreed to the collaboration.
"Mr. Sinclair's expertise is indeed top-tier. There are very few applied science experts in the country who have reached this level of depth. Partnering with you will be highly beneficial for us as well."
He closed the folder, his tone decisive. "We have a deal. We will provide the laboratory and the equipment. Mr. Sinclair will serve as the lead director, and the project's profits will be split fifty-fifty between both parties."
Seraphina was stunned.
A fifty-fifty split was far better than she had anticipated.
She turned to look at Arthur, who was completely frozen in shock.
"Mr. Cole... these terms are too generous. I'm afraid I..."
Gideon arrived perfectly on time.
The dishes were served one by one, and the food was indeed exceptional.
Seraphina raised her glass. "Mr. Cole, thank you for looking out for my father today."
Gideon clinked his glass against hers. "Like I said, it's a fair partnership."
The two ate quietly, exchanging only a few words here and there.
Downstairs, a long line of people was still waiting for a table.
Seraphina instinctively glanced down, and her gaze locked onto something.
Dominic and Cynthia had also arrived.
But evidently, they hadn't secured a reservation and were forced to join the waiting list.
Just then, Dominic looked up and saw Seraphina and Gideon sitting across from each other by the second-floor window.
The atmosphere between them looked perfectly harmonious.
Dominic's expression darkened instantly.
