Seraphina let out a short laugh. "Just as I thought, Mr. Lockwood didn't bother to read a single word of what I sent. The agreement I submitted clearly demands five hundred billion dollars."
Dominic's eyes snapped wide open in shock.
"Are you out of your mind? Where am I supposed to get five hundred billion?"
With a calm smile, Seraphina rattled off Dominic's current assets, ongoing projects, and investments like she was reading a grocery list. Combined, they were worth far more than a trillion dollars.
Asking him for five hundred billion was already cutting him a deal.
Dominic stared at her, his gaze turning incredibly sharp.
She was completely accurate.
But he swore he had never discussed any of this with her. How could a stay-at-home mother who had spent the last six years raising a child know the intricate details of his corporate empire so flawlessly?
He asked himself honestly, and realized even Cynthia probably couldn't list his assets this precisely.
He lowered his eyelids to hide the turbulent emotions in his eyes, realizing once again just how vastly he had underestimated her.
"Have you been investigating me?"
Seraphina couldn't help but scoff.
"Why would I need to investigate?"
"Dominic, you are truly something. I watched you build those projects from the ground up, one by one. How could I not know?"
Dominic's brows furrowed. "What do you mean?"
Seraphina couldn't be bothered to dance around the subject anymore. Today was the day she laid all her cards on the table, and she was going to dump everything on him at once.
"Six years ago, the Lockwood Jewelry division was being ruthlessly crushed by competitors because of outdated products and stale designs. It had absolutely no chance of recovering. At the most critical moment, a brand-new heritage collection fell out of the sky and saved Lockwood's."
"But how could a flawless design just fall out of the sky? You all claimed it was the achievement of your design department. Yet in all the time since, your design team hasn't produced a single decent product. Where do you think that new design came from? Those were my drafts."
Dominic stared at her intently.
The Heritage Collection had indeed been the turning point that saved the jewelry division.
"Dominic, you are incredibly blind."
She tapped on her phone, pulled up a massive file, and sent it straight to him.
"Look at it yourself."
Dominic opened the file, swiping through the pages one by one as his grip on the phone tightened with every second.
How could this be?
"Weren't these the notes Cynthia sent me from abroad..."
But something was wrong.
The notes Cynthia had sent him were fragmented, disjointed, and sporadic. They were nowhere near this systematic or complete.
Seraphina took a deep breath. "She sent them to you? She plagiarized them from me."
Dominic's face grew dark. "Watch your mouth. What plagiarism? At most, Cynthia was just using it for reference."
