Chelsea flipped her hair dramatically. "Going alone is excruciating, but if I bail, my mother will absolutely murder me."
Seraphina shook her head. "I can't. I have too much work."
Chelsea pouted. "If you don't come, Ethan is going to corner me and lecture me all night. You don't know how terrifying he is. He's so rigid, one glare from him makes my knees buckle."
"Last time I was ten minutes late, he berated me in front of the entire family for half an hour."
Seraphina couldn't help but laugh. "That does sound brutal."
"Exactly. Which is why you have to go with me."
Chelsea grabbed her arm. "Be my shield. If he starts yelling at me, just awkwardly change the subject."
Seraphina shot her a look. "I thought you were taking me out to relax. Turns out I'm just human collateral?"
Chelsea didn't even flinch. "Relaxation and self-preservation. It's a win-win."
Seraphina sighed, finally giving in. "Fine."
Chelsea beamed instantly. "Let's go! I brought you a dress. Go put it on."
At seven o'clock that evening, Chelsea dragged Seraphina into Grandview Manor.
Nestled halfway up the hills of Northport, the sprawling estate was brilliantly lit and exuded an air of total opulence.
Security checked their invitations at the door before stepping aside to let them in.
Pulled along by Chelsea, Seraphina passed beneath a carved archway into a breathtakingly massive ballroom.
A single glance confirmed the guest list was exceptionally elite.
Not only were there industry titans, but there were also tech billionaires and prominent politicians, all exuding a distinctly powerful aura.
Chelsea's uncle, Ethan Harrington, was an internationally renowned musician and dedicated philanthropist. His massive charitable donations had made him a highly respected figure across all of Northport's elite circles.
Surprisingly, he was also incredibly young. Despite technically being her uncle, he was actually around Chelsea's age.
"Yeah, it was barely a melody, not even a finished piece. The buyer is a massive international collector obsessed with his original manuscripts."
"Maestro Harrington is on another level. He scribbles a few notes and it's worth seventy-five million."
"What did you expect? The man is a total genius."
The nearby guests continued whispering, their tones dripping with sheer envy.
Chelsea didn't even blink. She grabbed Seraphina's arm, marched them into a secluded corner, and finally let go.
"Did you hear that?" Chelsea huffed. "Seventy-five million for a scrap of paper. Ethan makes it look so easy. I could work myself to death all night, and he casually makes millions in seconds. He's easily the richest person in our family."
Seraphina couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Right then, a burst of laughter echoed from the grand entrance.
She looked up to see Cynthia strolling into the ballroom, her arm tightly linked with Dominic's.
