Cynthia's eyes lit up. "Lily! Open the gate for me! I'm freezing... please let me inside!"
Lily stood frozen, her small hands clenched into tight fists.
She shouted at the top of her lungs, "You're evil! You hurt my mommy! I don't ever want to see you again!"
Earlier that day, her nanny had shown her all the videos and livestreams exposing how Cynthia had framed Seraphina. She finally realized how much her mother had suffered because of this woman.
Without another word, Lily spun around and ran back into the house.
She hurried to her bedroom, climbed onto her bed, and dug out her kids' smartwatch.
Looking at her mother's contact number, she desperately wanted to call her.
But she couldn't bring herself to hit the dial button.
Over the past few days at school, other kids kept asking if Ms. Sinclair was her mother.
They all said Ms. Sinclair was incredibly amazing, that she was brilliant at everything, and that they wished they had a mom just like her...
Lily had stood there, entirely unable to speak.
She used to think her mother was useless and knew nothing.
But now, the whole world was telling her how spectacular her mother truly was.
She stared down at the number on her tiny screen, tears falling in fat drops.
She missed her mommy.
But would her mommy ever come back?...
The rain continued to lash down until Cynthia finally lost consciousness, collapsing into a miserable heap on the wet pavement.
Sitting in his study, Dominic listened to the security guard's report without a trace of emotion on his face.
"Send her to the hospital. And make sure she never comes back."
The staff member nodded and quickly arranged a car to haul her away.
Dominic stared at the half-empty bottle of whiskey on his desk. He picked up his phone and dialed Tristan's number.
"Come over and drink with me."
Silence stretched over the line for a few seconds.
"Wait for me."
Half an hour later, Tristan arrived at the Lockwood Estate.
He glanced at the liquor bottles on the table, then at Dominic's wretched state. Without a word, he poured himself a glass, sat down, and took a sip.
