Dominic's expression was stormy as he marched over and cut straight to the chase. "What are you doing here?"
Tristan took in his interrogative stance and let out a breath. "I came to see Seraphina."
"See her?"
Dominic's voice dropped a register. "Does seeing her require you to personally wait on her hand and foot? Pouring her water?"
Tristan exhaled sharply. "I would've loved to take care of her, but unfortunately, we all got kicked out."
Dominic's gaze sharpened instantly. "You want to pursue her?"
"Yes," Tristan replied, making no attempt to hide it.
"You have feelings for her?"
Tristan's tone grew even more candid. "Yes."
In the next second, Dominic's fist swung directly at his face.
Fast and brutal, the punch immediately drew blood from the corner of Tristan's mouth.
He turned his head, running his tongue over the inside of his cheek before looking back at Dominic.
Wiping the blood from his lip, he said, "I'll take that hit."
His voice held not a shred of surrender. "But from now on, stay out of my way while I pursue her."
Dominic tightened his fists. "You are my friend."
A flicker of emotion crossed Tristan's eyes.
He didn't look away. Instead, he met Dominic's furious stare head-on. "Because we were friends, I kept my feelings for her a secret for years."
"I liked her long before the two of you ever got together. But because I hesitated for just a moment, you swept in and took her."
Dominic's breathing hitched.
"If I had been more decisive back then, things might have turned out entirely different."
Tristan's voice carried an unprecedented seriousness. Then, a faint smile returned to his face. "But it's not too late. Now that she's divorcing you, I have my chance again."
Dominic couldn't stop a cold sneer from escaping. "Your chance at what? A divorced woman?"
Tristan's gaze turned icy in a flash.
"That just proves the man before me was completely blind to let such an incredible woman slip through his fingers."
He cast a disparaging glance at Cynthia, who was standing behind Dominic.
