Cynthia took two steps forward, adding, "Seraphina, we all know you're in a bad place right now, but... you're being overly paranoid."
Seraphina ignored their bait. She simply stood like a fortress in front of the hospital bed, glaring at them with lethal intent.
Seeing her silence, Cynthia stepped even closer, leaning right by her ear.
In an instant, her tone shifted from gentle victimhood to pure, venomous spite.
"So what if you saw us, Seraphina? You're nothing but a pathetic loser."
A malicious smirk curved her lips, her eyes dead and cold.
"You were thrown out by your man, and your kid is lying here half-dead. What good is all your so-called capability? You can't even find a single shred of evidence to prove who did this to her."
"You're completely useless. It's truly a tragedy she ended up with a mother like you."
Lauren let out a mocking laugh in agreement.
"You brought all of this on yourself."
Cynthia's gaze drifted over to the pale little face on the bed. "It's karma. For you, and for that little mistake."
The words 'little mistake' echoed in Seraphina's ears, snapping the last thread of her self-control.
She swung her arm back.
The resounding crack of a slap echoed through the room.
Cynthia's head whipped to the side from the sheer force of the blow. At that exact moment, the hospital room door was pushed open.
"What the hell are you doing?!"
Dominic's furious voice boomed from the doorway. He lunged forward, immediately pulling Cynthia into his protective embrace. He stared down at the bright red welt forming on her cheek, his jaw clenched in absolute rage.
Cynthia kept her face turned slightly away, the handprint on her cheek visibly swelling. She bit her lower lip, tears welling flawlessly in her eyes as she looked up at him with devastating vulnerability.
She gently touched her own cheek, keeping her voice carefully restrained. "Seraphina... I know you're deeply upset right now, but you really need to control your temper."
"Even though Lily is in this state, she might still have some awareness. If she knew her mother was still acting like such a lunatic, it would break her heart."
Those words were a calculated strike that landed perfectly on Dominic.
Gripping Cynthia's shoulders tightly, he shot Seraphina a look of pure disgust.
"I just spoke with the doctor. He specifically said Lily requires a peaceful, positive environment for her recovery."
"And look at you. Lauren and Cynthia came out of the goodness of their hearts to check on her, and this is how you treat them?"
