Hearing this, Seraphina paused for a second.
Chelsea spoke up again, "If that grosses you out, I can find you something else. Northport is packed with premium real estate, no rush."
Seraphina shook her head, her tone perfectly level. "No need to change it. Laurel Heights is fine."
"You sure?" Chelsea asked.
"I'm sure," Seraphina said, swiping through the floor plans. "Back then, I wanted to live there, but he took the house back, claiming it was for Cynthia. Now I'm buying a place with my own money, and no one can take it away from me."
Chelsea let out a laugh on the other end. "Alright, I'll go negotiate the deal."
The paperwork went smoothly, and soon enough, Seraphina had the keys in hand.
She carved out an afternoon to take Lily to see the new place.
Lily sprinted a lap around the massive living room, then spun back to flash a glowing smile. "Mom, it's so huge!"
Watching her daughter twirl around the empty room, whatever lingering doubts Seraphina had completely vanished.
On moving day, Lily's former nanny came along.
Having cared for the girl for quite some time, the nanny was meticulous and reliable.
Life quickly settled into a routine. For a while, the mother and daughter enjoyed a quiet, peaceful existence.
As for Dominic, he hadn't made a single phone call.
Seraphina didn't care; she was used to it.
Back when she lived with the Lockwood family, he had always treated her as a convenient dumping ground for the kid while he played the absent father. Now that they were divorced, he likely felt even more justified leaving Lily entirely in her hands.
She stopped dwelling on it, throwing herself into her current projects.
The Lockwood Group's celebration banquet rolled around in no time.
Seraphina attended as an official partner. The invitation had been personally delivered by the company's tech director, worded with the utmost respect and granting her a prime seat near the front.
By the time she arrived, the banquet hall was already packed.
She wore a simple black dress with minimal accessories, but the moment she stood there, her aura commanded the room.
Almost immediately, several Lockwood Group executives hurried over to greet her.
The tech director extended his hand from several paces away. "Ms. Sinclair, we've been waiting for you."
Seraphina shook his hand with a polite smile.
The head of marketing practically shoved his way in, overflowing with enthusiasm. "Ms. Sinclair, this launch was a massive success all thanks to your proposal. The results utterly shattered our projections. We definitely need to sit down and talk about phase two."
