Dominic cut through the crowd, his face dark with fury, and marched straight up to Winifred.

Winifred had just stepped out of the restroom, only to be met with her son's thunderous expression. Her heart skipped a beat.

"Mom, what the hell did you just say to Seraphina?"

Dominic's voice was laced with a chilling, suppressed rage.

The smile on Winifred's face froze. "What could I possibly say? I just told her a few hard truths..."

"The proposal for this massive project came from her. She takes the lion's share of the profits. Our entire company is making millions thanks to her, and you call her classless?"

Winifred's face flushed hot red, then pale white.

Madeline rushed over, frowning in disapproval. "Dominic, she's your mother. She just made a few comments. Do you really need to act like this?"

Madeline choked on her words, snapping her mouth shut and backing down.

Winifred's eyes welled with tears as she softened her voice to a placating whine. "Dominic, I was only looking out for you. Women like that..."

"I told you not to provoke her today."

Dominic cut her off, leaving zero room for negotiation. "Leave. Now."

Being publicly berated and kicked out shattered the last shred of Winifred's dignity.

Cynthia hurried over, glancing from Dominic's livid expression to Winifred's mortified, crimson face.

She gently tugged at Dominic's sleeve. "Dominic, she didn't mean anything by it. It's supposed to be a happy day. Let's not ruin the mood over something so trivial."
