The head of security glanced at her, his tone polite but leaving no room for negotiation. "I apologize, but your access privileges are not in the company's system. We cannot open the gates for you."
Cynthia's expression shifted.
"What do you mean I don't have access? I come to The Lockwood Group every single day, and you're telling me I don't have clearance?"
The security head's expression remained neutral. "Your information is indeed missing from our system. Please understand."
Cynthia's voice turned icy. "Do you have any idea who I am?"
"I do." He nodded, maintaining his strict, professional demeanor. "But we are simply following company protocols."
Cynthia clenched her fists.
"You're just a security guard, and you dare block my way? Do you want me to have you fired right this second?"
He didn't so much as blink. "Ms. Ross, I am merely executing company rules. If you have an issue, you are welcome to contact Human Resources."
Cynthia choked on the formal address of 'Ms. Ross.'
In the past, everyone here had treated her with the utmost reverence, respectfully addressing her as Assistant Ross or Ms. Ross.
Now, even a lowly security guard was using the rulebook to suppress her.
Her temper finally boiled over, her voice rising with every word. "I told you, my fingerprints were deleted by mistake! Are you deaf? Open the gate!"
People coming and going through the lobby began to slow their pace, whispering among themselves as they watched the scene unfold.
The security head stood immovable before the turnstiles.
Cynthia's voice grew shrill. "What's your name? I'm going to find your superiors right now. If you don't give me a proper explanation today, I'll make sure you can't survive in Northport!"
He didn't reply, simply standing there with calm composure.
The crowd continued to grow.
Cynthia lost all control, hurling ugly insults and even aggressively shoving the man.
Meanwhile, upstairs.
Inside the executive office.
The assistant handed a phone to Dominic, the screen displaying the live security feed from the lobby.
