Seraphina turned on her heel and headed out of the factory.

Dominic followed closely behind her.

His sleek black sedan was parked right outside the gates, and his driver had already opened the rear door for him.

Dominic spoke up. "I'll give you a ride."

Seraphina didn't even break her stride, walking straight toward another car parked nearby.

It was a black sedan, nearly identical in make and color to Dominic's.

Dominic blinked in surprise.

Seraphina hadn't noticed his reaction at all, nor had she realized her car matched his so closely; it was simply a new, supposedly limited-edition company vehicle she had been assigned.

She pulled the door open, slid into the driver's seat, and started the engine.

Snapping out of it, Dominic quickly reached out to stop her from closing the door.

Seraphina rolled the window halfway down, frowning at him. "What are you doing?"

"I just remembered my car broke down and needs to be taken to the shop. Let me ride with you to see Lily."

Seraphina's frown deepened, but she eventually unlocked the doors.

Regardless of everything, he was still the child's father, and she wasn't going to completely isolate him from his daughter.

Dominic hurried around to the passenger side, pulling the door open and climbing in.

The moment he buckled his seatbelt, Seraphina hit the gas, and the car smoothly exited the factory gates.

Outside the grounds, Cynthia was standing in the shade of a tree across the street, her eyes glued to the entrance.

She saw a black sedan driving out.

The make, the color... it had to be Dominic's car.

Cynthia's heart leaped into her throat, and she sprinted forward.

She dashed out from the side of the road, throwing herself directly in front of the moving vehicle.

Seraphina's reflexes were razor-sharp; she slammed her foot down on the brake pedal.

The tires shrieked against the asphalt in a deafening screech.

The car jerked to a halt barely two feet away from Cynthia.

Gripping the steering wheel, Seraphina clearly saw the woman blocking her path, and her eyes darkened dangerously.

Cynthia threw herself onto the hood, frantically pounding on the windshield.

"Dominic! Dominic, get out here! You have to talk to me!"

The window slowly rolled down.

The desperate panic on Cynthia's face hadn't even faded before she locked eyes with Seraphina sitting in the driver's seat.

She froze completely.
