Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 505

Dead silence fell over the line for a fleeting second.

"I haven't even settled the score with you for putting my daughter in danger."

"Stealing someone else's work, passing it off as your own—the list of your crimes is long enough as it is. Yet you still dare to come to me?"

Lauren's voice instantly took on a pitiful, wounded edge.

"That was all just a misunderstanding..."

"Don't you know what kind of person I am? You never used to talk to me like this."

Dominic felt physically sick.

He closed his eyes.

The past.

Just how utterly blind was he in the past to have ever validated a woman like this?

His voice grew even colder. "Whether it was a misunderstanding or not isn't up to you to decide."

"I've already assigned people to compile every single legal and ethical violation you committed while at the company. You can sit tight and wait for the legal consequences."

Without giving her a chance to respond, he ended the call.

He tossed the phone back onto the coffee table with a heavy thud.

On the other end of the line, Lauren's face twisted in horror as she clutched her phone in a death grip.

She bit her lip, her nails digging viciously into her palms.

Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine Dominic would be this merciless.

Back in the office, mere moments after Dominic had hung up, an assistant pushed the door open.

The man stood at the entrance, looking incredibly hesitant.

Pressing a hand against his aching stomach, Dominic looked up. "What is it?"

The assistant spoke in a low voice. "Mr. Lockwood, Ms. Ross is here."

"She's right outside, insisting she needs to see you."

Dominic rubbed his temples.

"Tell her to leave."

The assistant hesitated. "She refuses to go. She just keeps standing out there..."

Before he could even finish, Cynthia's voice echoed from out in the hall.

"Dominic! Come out!"

"Why are you treating me like this?"

Dominic's headache was splitting.

He didn't want to see her.

But Cynthia's screams just kept coming, piercing right through the heavy wooden door.

"I just made a mistake! Doesn't everyone make mistakes?!"

"Why do you have to be so cruel?"

Fearing she would just keep screaming the place down, Dominic finally pushed himself up and walked over to the door.

The moment the door pulled open, he saw Cynthia standing just past the threshold.

She was ghost-pale, her eyes rimmed with red, but her back was perfectly straight.

She was still clinging to that aloof, fragile persona.
