Chapter 131
“Where’s Eunice?” Heather asked.
The assistant glanced at Heather and Chiara, then pointed toward Eric’s office. “Ms. Murphy went to see Mr. Bradford.”
At that, Heather and Chiara shared a look of surprise.
Heather pushed the door open and walked in, spotting Kason and Eunice sitting across from each other on the couch, chatting about something.
Eunice immediately stood up. “Finished? Heather, are you busy? If not, how about we get some food together?”
Chiara glanced at the time. “Sure, you two go ahead and wait for me. I need to wrap up something with Mr. Bradford.”
Chiara couldn’t take her eyes off Kason until Eunice dragged her out of the office.
As soon as the door closed, Heather fixed Kason with a cold stare, her eyes full of warning.
“Eunice isn’t just some woman for you to play around with. She’s the heir of the Murphy family. Whatever you do with other women is your business, but you leave her out of it,” Heather said.
Kason raised an eyebrow, staring at her for a long moment before finally getting up and approaching her.
Heather frowned, instinctively stepping back until she had nowhere left to go.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
Kason placed his hand by her ear, leaning in close, his gaze intense. “Of course I know who she is, but so what? You still…”
Heather’s face turned cold, her eyes sharp. She looked like she’d slap him right then if he dared to finish that
sentence.
Kason licked his lips, then lifted her chin with his hand.
“You’re overthinking it. I’m not interested in her. Right now, you’re the only one I want,” he said.
Heather turned her head aside and raised her hand to shove him
away.
“Let go of me. They’re still waiting for me,” Heather said, her voice tense.
But Kason wasn’t one to listen. He grabbed her wrists and pressed them firmly against the door.
“Let go of me. They’re still waiting for me,” Heather snapped.
Kason kissed her for a long moment before finally breaking away with a soft laugh.
“Come to me tonight,” he said.
Heather turned her head aside and closed her eyes. “Go find someone else. Just tell me your type, I’ll even help you pick…”
Kason pressed a finger to her lips, his brows drawing together.
“Baby, you really know how to kill the vibe. I told you, I only want you right now. Even if you lined up ten other women, it wouldn’t matter. So, come to me tonight. You hear me?” he said.
Heather didn’t answer, making it clear she still wasn’t going.
Kason wasn’t in a hurry. “We had an agreement, Ms. Lynch. You’re not thinking of backing out, are you?”
Heather remembered that verbal deal they’d made.
While he was at Lynch Group, he expected her to be available at a moment’s notice for his personal needs.
She’d shot him down right away.
But Kason went ahead and took the five percent shares off the table.
Heather really had no way to say no after that.
She had no intention of giving up any of her shares in Lynch Group.
He knew exactly how to get to her and didn’t hesitate to use it.
That’s the only reason she agreed to his ridiculous terms.
Heather closed her eyes. “Fine, I’ll come see you later. Happy now?”
Kason’s eyes grew even darker. “Now that’s more like it.”
With that, he let her go. “Don’t keep me waiting.”
Outside, Chiara and Eunice kept their eyes fixed on Kason’s office door. As soon as Heather stepped out, their attention snapped to her.
Kason was right behind her, and her lips looked noticeably redder than before.
Anyone could tell what had just gone down in there.
Chiara and Eunice exchanged a knowing glance..
Heather kept her cool as she walked up to the two of them, acting like nothing had happened.
“Come on, ladies. What are you in the mood for?” she asked.
“I’m good with anything…” Chiara replied.
As Chiara turned to leave, she couldn’t help but glance back at Kason..
He was leaning lazily against the doorframe, a faint smile on his lips as he watched the three of them.
Once they were in the elevator, Eunice couldn’t help but blurt out, “Heather, I’ve heard all sorts of rumors about Kason from people in the study abroad scene.”
Both Heather and Chiara immediately turned their attention to her.
Chiara asked, “Really? What did you hear?”
“Kason’s got skills, no doubt, but he’s pretty ruthless when it comes to women. Seriously, plenty of girls in our study abroad circle have hooked up with him…” Eunice said.
Chiara’s eyebrows knitted together as she glanced over at Heather.
Heather wasn’t fazed. She’d seen it herself, after all.
“I know, you guys don’t have to worry about me. We’re both just getting what we need from each other. When it’s over, we’ll just walk away. It’s just business,” Heather said.
But Eunice still looked worried. “Heather, there was a girl in our circle who almost lost it over him. She got way too attached.”
Heather just gave a soft laugh. “Relax, I’m not about to lose my head over that guy.”
“Good. I just wanted to remind you. Kason’s not someone to mess around with. Working with him is fine, but if things get personal, that’s when the real trouble starts,” Eunice said.
Chiara gave her a worried look. “Heather…”
Heather patted her on the head. “You know me. I’m just not into guys like him.”
Chiara knew that for sure. Heather’s had boyfriends before.
They just broke up later for various reasons.
Chiara had met one of Heather’s exes. He was super gentle, easygoing, and always warm.
“But two years is a long time. A lot can change in that span…” Chiara said.
Heather just shook her head. “I know exactly what I’m doing.”
Eunice hooked her arm through Chiara’s and said, “Come on, don’t stress. Heather’s way more level-headed than you are.”
After grabbing a meal together, the three of them went their separate ways.
Heather drove to the hotel.
