When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 133

Chapter 133

“Yes, I am crazy. I can never dance again. What’s the point of living anymore?” Elaine sobbed, her face streaked with tears.

Elaine had her arms wrapped tightly around Titus’s waist, and her whole body was shaking with anguish.

Titus’s gaze darkened as he glanced briefly at her leg in a cast. “I’ll get you the best rehab team,” he said, his

voice low and serious.

“It’s no use,” Elaine wailed, her voice breaking. “The doctor said even if I go through rehab, I’ll never dance again. I can’t dance anymore, Titus. I’ll never dance again!”

She gripped Titus’s arm with all her strength, refusing to let go, crying out all her grievances and unwillingness in heart-wrenching sobs.

Titus’s gaze grew colder and heavier, but he stayed silent.

“Titus, I’ll never be able to dance again. I’ll never set foot on my beloved stage. Please, don’t leave me. Don’t abandon me. My family’s gone, you’re all I have left. Please, I’m begging you, don’t leave me. You’re the only one I have now, Titus…” Elaine choked out, her voice trembling with desperation.

Titus stayed silent for a long time before finally speaking, his voice calm but firm, “As long as you don’t give up on yourself, no one else will ever give up on you.”

Elaine sobbed, her voice trembling, “Titus…”

Paul stood outside the door, watching everything play out, and he couldn’t shake off this weird feeling in his

chest.

‘This must be what betrayal feels like. Paul mused in his head.

Eventually, Paul pushed open the door to the hospital room.

“Mr. Goodman, there’s an urgent call from Harborton,” Paul said.

Elaine shot Paul a glare, but Paul just stared blankly, his face unreadable.

For a moment, Elaine couldn’t tell if Paul was doing it on purpose or not.

Titus shot Paul a look, then turned his attention back to Elaine and said, “Calm down.”

Elaine bit her lip, refusing to let go. “Titus, please don’t leave me. I don’t want to be here alone. I want to go home. Please, take me with you?”

Titus glanced at her, then stood up and walked out of the hospital room.

Paul turned and followed Titus out, his head bowed low.

Once they were out of the room, Titus glanced at Sharon and instructed calmly, “Go in and keep an eye on

her.”

Sharon’s face was a mix of emotions, but in the end, she could only nod and head into the room.

Finally, Titus looked at Paul, but didn’t say anything.

Paul realized Titus had caught him in the lie, so he scratched the back of his head, feeling awkward.

“Mr. Goodman, Mrs. Goodman is still waiting for you at home…” Paul trailed off.

Titus’s face was hard to read. “I don’t need you to remind me.”

Paul just glanced up at him, feeling a bit sorry for Titus, but he couldn’t help asking the question that had been on his mind for ages, “Mr. Goodman, if you don’t even care about Ms. Jensen, why do you treat her so well?”

Titus’s eyes grew even darker. “I promised her sister I’d look after her.”

Paul was taken aback. “Ms. Jensen’s sister?”

This was the first time Paul had ever heard this.

“What was your relationship with her sister, Mr. Goodman?” Paul asked.

Titus pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one. He hardly smoked these days. This pack was something the guys from Harborton had shoved into his hands.

The tip of the cigarette glowed red, flickering like the uncertainty in his eyes.

“She was my girlfriend. She died in a car accident years ago. Her parents were with her in the car,” Titus said, his voice low and distant.

Paul stared at him in shock. “So, you’ve been looking after Ms. Jensen all this time because of your girlfriend from back then?”

“Yeah,” Titus replied quietly, his voice rough. Maybe it had been too long since he’d smoked. He frowned and coughed lightly.

“She got into that accident on her way to see me,” Titus murmured, his voice thick with regret.

Paul’s heart lurched, and he instinctively glanced back at the hospital room door. For some reason, a cold weight settled in his chest.

‘How could anyone ever really move on from something like this?’ Paul thought, a chill running down his spine.

Elaine was now someone-Titus would always worry about. The guilt Titus felt over his ex-girlfriend’s death meant he could never just walk away from her only sister.

Paul was at a loss for words for a moment before finally asking, “Mr. Goodman, what are you going to do now?”

Titus looked at him, his expression calm but heavy with tension.

“If you were in my shoes, what would you do?” Titus asked.

Paul felt a bit nervous, but after thinking it over for a moment, he said, “I think Mrs. Goodman is a reasonable person. If I were you, I’d just lay everything out for her. As long as you’ve got a clear conscience, you shouldn’t be afraid of anyone knowing the truth.”

Titus went quiet, thinking it over.

After a moment, he stubbed out his cigarette and said in a rough voice, “You’re right. Couples need to be honest with each other.”

Paul let out a breath, relieved Titus was taking his advice. “Exactly. Mrs. Goodman is not unreasonable. I bet she’ll understand. The only reason she’s so upset about Elaine is because she got the wrong idea about you two. If you just lay it all out with her, you’ll avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble and misunderstandings.”

Titus raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile on his lips. “Get in touch with the rehab team here. I promised Chiara I wouldn’t see Elaine again.”

Paul got it right away and let out a quiet sigh of relief.

“Understood, Mr. Goodman. I’ll make sure Ms. Jensen gets the best rehab team in town,” Paul said.

Meanwhile, standing at the hospital room door, Elaine heard every word they said. Her fists clenched so hard her nails dug into her palms, and her eyes were filled with pure hatred.

‘Why? Why won’t he take me with him, even after everything I’ve sacrificed?’ Elaine thought, her mind swirling with rage and disbelief.

Elaine was in disbelief that Titus would just leave her here to care for herself.

‘Is he doing all this for Chiara? It was always Chiara this, Chiara that,’ Elaine thought bitterly, jealousy and resentment burning inside her.

Sharon, standing nearby, couldn’t help but shiver at the look on Elaine’s face.

“E-Elaine, please, don’t do anything reckless again…” Sharon stammered, her voice trembling.

Elaine suddenly gave a sinister smile. “Just trust me, I know exactly what I’m doing. I always get what I want. Or are you doubting me?”

Sharon’s face went pale as she stared at Elaine’s chilling expression. She’d always thought Elaine just had a bad temper, but now she realized this woman was truly unhinged.

“Did you get the pictures?” Elaine asked, her voice low and icy.
