When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 134

Chapter 134

“I thought you guys wouldn’t start planning for a baby so soon!” Lindsay said.

Chiara grew even more confused, setting her spoon down and staring at Lindsay in bewilderment.

“What do you mean? Planning for a baby?” Chiara asked.

Lindsay glanced at her in surprise. “You mean you really don’t know, Mrs. Goodman?”

Chiara shook her head, still lost. “No idea. So what is this all about?”

Seeing this, Lindsay pulled out the chair next to her and sat down.

“When you were in the hospital for your period cramps, Mr. Goodman spoke to the doctor. The doctor said that getting pregnant could actually help with cramps. I’ve heard that before, and it’s true for a lot of women. So I guess Mr. Goodman started thinking about having a baby with you around then,” Lindsay explained.

Chiara was still in a daze, not quite processing it. “I…I had no idea about any of this…”

“It’s pretty clear, you know. I haven’t seen any cigarette butts in the ashtray when I clean lately. Mr. Goodman must’ve quit smoking because you two are planning for a baby,” Lindsay said.

Chiara whipped her head around to look at the coffee table in the living room. The ashtray was gone.

“Since Mr. Goodman quit smoking, I kept the ashtray,” Lindsay explained.

Chiara glanced down at her stomach. She’d always thought this was just a pleasant surprise, but now she realized Titus had it all planned out from the start.

“Oh, and that soup you’ve been drinking every day? It’s apparently meant to help. Guess it really did the trick! You got pregnant so quickly,” Lindsay added.

Chiara pressed her lips together, not saying anything, just quietly surprised.

“Oh, I need to figure out what to cook next!” Lindsay said as she got up quickly and hurried into the kitchen.

After breakfast, Chiara drove herself to work.

She ran into lots of people who greeted her on her way in.

Some called her “Mrs. Goodman,” while others addressed her as “Ms. Lynch.”

She smiled back at everyone.

“Mrs. Goodman is so sweet and kind. She always greets everyone with a smile and never puts on airs,” one of

them said.

“Seriously, she’s nothing like those heiresses who walk around with their noses in the air, acting like they’re better than everyone else,” another chimed in.

“Yeah, Mr. Goodman sure has great taste,” a third person added.

As Chiara stepped out of the elevator, Queenie waved at her. “Morning, Chiara!”

“Morning,” Chiara replied.

Queenie waited until Chiara sat down before asking, “So, when’s Mr. Goodman coming back?”

“He said it’ll be a couple more days. Something’s come up over there, so he’s got to stick around a bit longer,” Chiara replied.

“Why didn’t Mr. Goodman take you with him on his trip?” Queenie asked, sounding a little curious.

Chiara recalled how Titus had asked her a few days ago if she wanted to join him on his trip.

She’d thought about it, but in the end, she turned him down.

Now that everyone knew he was married, if she really tagged along, she could already imagine all the gossip that would start swirling around. She did not want to deal with that. Besides, she’s never been great at socializing, so she just said no.

“Of course it was because I didn’t want to leave you here all alone,” Chiara teased.

Queenie pretended to be touched. “Wow, even if that sounds totally fake, I’m still moved. Love you!”

Chiara gave her a playful pat on the head and smiled. “Alright, let’s get to work.”

“Ugh, I have no idea what’s on the cafeteria menu today. Guess I only get to steal you for lunch when Mr. Goodman’s away,” Queenie grumbled.

Chiara smiled, remembering how Lindsay had promised to bring her lunch later.

Chiara had wanted to refuse, but Lindsay was so insistent. For the baby’s sake, Chiara couldn’t say no either.

“Hey, Queenie, let’s skip the cafeteria for lunch today, what do you think?” Chiara suggested.

“Why? You got something better for me?” Queenie teased.

Chiara nodded. “How about I treat you to some homemade lunch my family’s sending over?”

“Home-cooked lunch? What’s with the sudden delivery?” Queenie asked, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

Chiara hesitated for a moment, then leaned in and whispered in her ear, “I’m pregnant.”

“What? You’re what?” Queenie started to shout, but Chiara slapped her hand over Queenie’s mouth.

“Shhh! Do you want the whole office to hear?” Chiara whispered urgently.

Queenie’s eyes went wide and she blinked a few times in shock. When Chiara let go, Queenie couldn’t take her eyes off Chiara’s belly, staring at it like she was trying to see the baby through her skin.

“Wait, you’re…actually pregnant?” Queenie blurted out, her voice hushed.

Chiara nodded with a big smile. She really did look happy.

“Yeah,” she said.

“Wow, Mr. Goodman is on another level!” Queenie blurted out.

Chiara just gave her a look, speechless.

Queenie let out a couple of awkward laughs. “Does Mr. Goodman know yet?”

“Not yet. I’ll tell him when he gets back. So you have to keep this a secret, okay? And don’t you dare tip off Paul!” Chiara warned.

Queenie nodded right away. “Of course! Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me.”

Queenie reached out and placed her hand on Chiara’s belly. “Oh my god, this is unreal! The future heir of Goodman Group is about to arrive. Seriously, what kind of luck does it take to be born as Mr. Goodman’s kid? If I could pull that off, I’d reincarnate as his baby myself!”

Chiara couldn’t decide whether to laugh or sigh at Queenie’s nonsense, so she just gave her a gentle tap on the forehead.

“You really say whatever comes to mind, don’t you?” Chiara said, shaking her head.

“Hehe, from now on, I’ll be your personal protector, for both of you!” Queenie declared, puffing out her chest.

When Lindsay showed up with lunch, Queenie was so blown away by the feast that she just froze for a second, totally speechless.

“Wow, I’m really in for a treat from now on…” Queenie said, her eyes sparkling.

“Well? What are you waiting for? Dig in!” Chiara teased.

“Let’s eat! I’m starting right now!” Queenie cheered, grabbing her fork without hesitation.

When it was time to leave work, Queenie was a little worried about Chiara driving by herself, but Chiara assured her, “It’s just the early stage, so there’s nothing to worry about. I can handle it.”

After leaving the office, Chiara headed back to the Goodman manor.

Adele looked pleasantly surprised to see her. “Why didn’t you call before showing up?”

Chiara just smiled, looking a bit shy.

“Mom, I have something to tell you,” Chiara said.

Adele turned to her, sizing her up for a moment before nodding.

“Alright, tell me,” Adele said.

Chiara placed a hand on her stomach. That simple gesture was all Adele needed to get the message.

Adele set down the watering can and came closer. Her gaze landed on Chiara’s belly as her face lit up with joy.

“You’re pregnant?” Adele asked, her voice full of excitement.

Chiara nodded. “Yeah, just seven weeks along.”
